People say it blows a panda, but what they really mean is the english 4kids version.

Since I name-swapped the audio files in my xbox it plays japanese with eng subs & menus. Big improvement. Big enough to make it a keeper, instead of just deleted out of horror.

I never played it, but I watched my brother playing it years ago and it looked fun. I never knew 4Kids dubbed it, though. That would explain a lot of the hate. Thanks for the suggestion. I might look into doing that sometimes.

Certain kind of Sonic fanboys find the stupiest reasons to hate a Sonic game. Like for example Sonic having blue arms at Sonic Boom.

There are plenty of better reasons to not like that game.

The dubbing is the least of Shadow the Hedgehog's problems; the godawful game mechanics and controls along with the cringeworthy story and premise are what make the game bad.

Not trying to brag or anything, but as someone who completed all 326 paths I can safely say this game is pretty good. Problems: Physics. A lot of people seem to confuse the controls with the physics. Because when I move the analog left, shadow goes and when I move right, shadow goes right. However, the physics make shadow extremely slippery(even more so than heroes). This is so bad you can actually use it to your advantage and cut some parts of the levels(mostly for the hero and dark missions, if you don't want to kill soldiers or aliens) with the spin dash and bump against a wall or the smallest obstacle and be launch to the sky. The gun mechanics also work very well since its automatic. Many people want a manual lock-on system, but that will make the levels slower and more boring. Actually if you want to avoid hitting either a soldier or an alien just get closer to the one you want to kill and that's it. Also, a lot of people have trouble with the missions. The first time it can be a pain in the ass, but after that you start to learn what to do, where to go, etc. it is not that bad. If you are completely stuck just look it up on youtube. The cgi cut-scenes look awesome and the music while not the best there are a lot of memorable ones like the opening, all the endings themes and some stages like speed highway, cosmic fall, final hunt, digital circuit, the last way, etc. Overall it was a awesome experience and I hope a lot more people would play it rather than watch those biased reviews on youtube. Finally, if possible try to get the gamecube version since the other ports suffer more problems. I almost forgot NEITHER DAMN OR HELL ARE BAD WORDS people need to get over it and fictional guns can't hurt you or influence kids to kill. And also the canon story is mostly the pure hero path since shadow ends up in the black comet and is the one that makes the most sense, the rest of the stories are supposed to not make sense because they aren't canon(duh) and they are alternate timelines.

It all makes sense in a way that Shadow came to be when Nu Metal was in it's prime. He's "dark" and edgy, and "has issues and no one understands him".

Just makes it all the more embarrassing when you consider that Shadow the Hedgehog came out in 2005, when nu-metal was already on its way out. The whole push into grimdarkness with guns and shit was already a Poochie-level cynical marketing ploy (especially jarring when it's in a game about little furry animals), but on top of that it was connected to a dying fad.

You know, Shadow does indeed pack a chainsaw. In addition, he will skin your ass raw. Also if his day keeps going this way he might break something tonight...

And yet Megaman X gets away for trying the whole hardcore status, but if it's Sonic or Shadow tries to do it, it's considered Cringeworthy. Man, these people sometimes lol!

Are you not trolling or just trolling?

Megaman X came out in 1993 and featured a basic plot that revolved around getting cool power ups. Not to mention, it's a solid game.

Even using Sonic as an example, Knuckles was the "hardcore" anti-hero type in Sonic 3 but it worked. Sonic 3 is a solid game. Knuckles was pretty cool in it. All he did was quietly screw over Sonic to a funky Michael Jackson beat, then quietly laugh, and run off screen to a beat fade-out. Jump to the Adventure games when they were desperately trying to make him cool with an all hip-hop soundtrack about emeralds and flexing muscles, and yeah... it is pretty damn cringeworthy.

On another note, Knuckles is rapping his own hooks in SA2, right? The rapper clearly doesn't sound like Knuckles' voice actor at all but... all of his songs do start with "DIS IS KNUCKEWS" and the lyrics are in first person.

Give up the emeralds, or die, I don't know.

Lmao! Well i do admit the rapping in the first Adventure game was sorta mediocre-ish to okay-ish but Adventure 2's raps were a bit better sorta though there are a few ones that isn't pure rap like the Space one & the Jazz sounding one (forgot the name or stage to that particular song) where he actually kinda sings.

Maybe it's nostalgia speaking but admittedly i sorta like his music, some of the levels kinda fit with the whole Musical Score for it at the time.

I can't lie, I've been known to jam out to the Sonic R soundtrack from time to time. It's just... I mean... everybody is super Sonic racing.

Sonic R wasn't too bad, it just wasn't that good either. It's the kind of game you sit down and play with your friends to have a few laughs when you can't think of anything else better to play at the moment.

Have we gotten to the point where there are more bad Sonic games than good? I DO like Shadow I don't love it but I don't think it's the worst game ever.

Well, let's see, there's 7 universally liked Sonic games (Sonic 1-3, & Knuckles, CD, SA 1-2), 1 that's (I think) underrated (Sonic Heroes), 2 relatively well regarded ones from the last gen (Colors and Generations), Knuckles Chaotix (does it count? Is it really good, or is it just the best 32X one by default? I don't have it, so I can't say), Shadow, the Tales games (Secret Rings and Black Knight), Lost World (still don't have the Wii U version), and then the worst games in the list, Unleashed, Sonic 06 and Boom.

That doesn't even count the handheld games or spinoffs. So that puts about 10 games that we could all say are "good", vs 8 others. If it weren't for the fact that the best games were the first ones, it probably wouldn't seem that bad.

The best shine very brightly, but the worst stink with equal force.

I haven't played this yet but I always hate games that have multiple endings or paths. NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams being another example of this. Speaking of, I think the entire Shadow the Hedgehog team worked on that. At least these supposed physics problems were fixed by utilizing PhysX which seems to work well (It was one of the few games to use PhysX on Wii).
