They've turned it into a goddamn FPS!

The snes version was a perfect mixture of action and puzzle.

Now it's just some halo 2 deathmatch clone.

Why is everything on 360 a FPS?

    There's 16 FPS at E3.

I have limits to how much shit I want to blow up.
360 is turning into a one trick pony.

God that sucks, another franchise thrown out the window, way to be daring developers but I guess I should point the finger at publishers.

I was always more partial to the Genesis version myself. I felt it was more faithful to the Shadowrun world. Why nobody ever snapped this up for a MMORPG isd beyond me. If any franchise was the perfect choice for one this has to be it.

The 360 conference at E3 was a joke, Half of the games shown were pointless FMV and just short of 3/4 of everything in development is FPS orientated.

Its a huge shame they have access to this license and couldn't be bothered to do anything interesting with it.

FPS games are what the market buys now. [IMG]

I think MS is just trying to find their next Halo, since Halo 3 is "supposedly" the last one.

Though I wouldn't really call the 360 a one trick pony... you got Kameo, Blue Dragon, Senko no Ronde: Revision X, Lost Planet, Bomberman: Act Zero, and several other games.

Though there is (and probably always will be) a much higher ratio of FPS on the system...

I was hoping for this to turn into a Deus Ex clone of sorts (or very wishful thinking - an Elder Scrolls clone). Turning a tabletop RPG into a first person shooter wasn't exactly smart.

Hah, I would've actually bought a 360 if this game would've taken a decent direction... I've wanted a newer cyberpunk RPG for the longest time.

Just out of sheer curiosity... but have they officially shown any gameplay footage of this?

Because the trailer, while it leans towards a FPS style, really doesn't provide any information on the exact genre or how the game will play in the end.

So at the end of the day, it very well may be another Deus Ex style game... or an Elder Scrolls type game with guns... since in theory, both of the aforementioned series could classify as FPS. ;-)

*AY! If you use the bow and arrow in Elder Scrolls... you're shooting... and its first person!

Forgive me if im wrong, but didnt Metroid start off as a side-scroller and then evolve into an FPS on the GC? (which turned out to be kick ass)

So all hope isnt lost with this one either

Yeah, but the side scrollers as still superior in my opinion.

Let's see how many 3d metroids they can kick out before people get tired.

Not for everyone. It is absolutely asinine to take an established franchise and switch genres like they did with Metroid Prime. Sure, they have picked up a lot of FPS players (notice that the guy who presented the MP3 footage during Nintendo's press conference finally called the series an FPS), but they lost a lot of people who loved the original series.

Damn... well that does suck. I'm sure its a ways off from release though, hopefully they improve on it some before it finally ships.

We can still hope dammit! [IMG]

I just read some stuff at the official website. The story seems to be conected to a real city in Brazil. Santos, to be precisely.

I don't know much about the Shadowrun "universe" but i think the only connection to that is the name...

I'm pretty sure they don't have many Cyberdecks in Brazil. Though it could be set in the future and may still hold trappings of the story/seminal text.
