I've never played any of them, according to Wikipedia there are 4 different games based on the RPG (all of them named ShadowRun :banghead. I'm not interested in the XBOX 360 version, ony the older titles. Which one do you reccomend to play first? Why? EDIT: I posted it in the wrong section, if a mod could, please move it to General Gaming.
First off the Genesis and SNES games are totally different even thought they came out around the same time. The SNES Shadowrun is a good RPG but nothing special and fairly straight forward. The Genesis version is more open ended and I think far more true to the source material. I would go with the Genesis version hands down if I had to pick one. I can’t speak of the 360 or MCD version since I’ve never played them. It amazes me how this IP has been squandered by those who have had it. Microsoft totally blew it by making the last one a FPS. This is a franchise that practically begs to be a MMORPG or Fallout style game. I think if someone like Bioware or Bethesda were to get their hands on it they could easily have a potential goldmine on their hands.
I liked the MCD version the best actually. the 360 version is an ok shooter, provided you can find someone to play with nowadays online.
Always loved the SNES version, and its the only one I have played (Besides the 360 version for about 5 mins.)
I liked the SNES version but Mega CD version really is good and probably the best Shadow Run game I've ever played. It's not cheap though and all in japanese which could put some people off. Yakumo
I always thought it was a shame the mega cd version was never released in the U.S. Also found it funny it never was at the same time considering it was much bigger in the U.S. than japan.
There are loads of western games such as Shadow Run which stayed in Japan on consoles. The Saturn had loads of PC games ported to it but all stayed in Japan apart from Disc World 1 and Disc World 2 which was a European only release. Yakumo
The thing that annoys me about the last Shadowrun game is that it killed FASA, and that's why there won't probably ever be a new Mechwarrior game.
Jordan Weisman (one of the creators of MechWarrior) is working on a reboot of the series, with the people at Piranha Games. In fact there are some screenshots of it on the Web.
I really enjoyed the snes version. Its one of those games were you get really far and die and have to wait a few weeks to get the will to play it again.
