Hi all, I've had a twin famicom for about a year now and like most i use a after market power supply which outputs 7.5v. When i originally purchased the supply it worked fine with no issues, but I've just plugged it in for a session and it's not working! All i get is a quick blink of the power light and nada. I've checked the power supply and it appears still to be outputting 7.5v, so is the issue likely to be something in the twin? and if so does anyone have ideas to what?

Start by double checking with a different adapter.
If not the adapter it could be several things, and then you will likely have to take it apart and troubleshoot it. Do you gave a multimeter?

i have tried another adaptor with the same result. I do have a multimeter but not the knowledge of what to test.

Try testing the power when its plugged in. It's possible its outputting voltage but not when under load. Also try another PSU

I've had people use under rated Psus for ages until they finally give up the ghost

well two different psu give the same result, so it seems unlikely to be the issue.

Sorry, missed that one - was on my phone.

Have you opened it up at all?

yes i've opened it up, but am not really electronically minded and unsure on what to test.

Pictures. Close up of any capacitors is a good start

turns out i'm a spoon! and there's nothing wrong with it...the "power light" isn't a power light afterall, it's a disc activity light....and i just didn't have it on the correct channel DOH. Just replaced the belt in the drive and now almost works, loads most discs but throws an error at random points.

of course i was using av, but it's not the primary input - it has too be selected. I was paying far too much attention to the light issue.

oh man… I've just done *exactly* this after work this evening!

Wanted to try a new cart, turned it on, power LED pulsed ever so briefly, nothing on the screen. Googled for a solution… found this. Checked PVM input. facepalmed.

    Thanks anyway!

Third party AC adapters are rarely clear on the power rating and the polarity. Make sure you absolutely chose the suitable one. I spent a while searching for a center negative 10V 1A AC adapter for my Genesis/Famicom, and only managed to find the right one after a little research.

Thanks, but read the thread fully, it's actually nothing to do with the power supply. Which is why I facepalmed.
