Amazing job. In part 2 are you going to be translating most of what was said in the round table discussion? Cause starmen.net never really finished the translation of it.

Good god, unfortunately no. The best in Japanese I know of is some Katakana!

I do have the translation for the cancellation message he left for fans back in 8/2000 as well as the second page of the round-table discussion, but I can't and won't be able to translate the rest of the discussion since my Japanese sucks.

If someone we're able to do some or all of the rest though, that sure as hell would be wonderful. Plus would get complete credit for my documentary. ;-)

Really good video! Told a lot of information I didn't know. I never realised there was a playable demo at spaceworld. Bet fans wished they had done a smash a grab now on one of those units haha

A damn good work I might add. I' m eager to see the follow-up.

A small comment though.. I don't think that Hiroshi "wanted" the N64 to be tough as nails to code for, what's alleged seems more of an excuse than a real reason to approach a computer architecture.

After all, most games today are made by programmers who aren't that technically proficient to write low level code and handle a 3D engine by the guts, and games turn out fine. Gotta love Microsoft's XNA.

Ah, Mother 3. I honestly wish they'd release the n64 version someday, whatever that might be worth.

Excellent job, I was a huge N64 supporter, from this video the game looked to be a classic.

Great vid, had me interested the whole time. Which is surprising because I have never really been a MOTHER fan, but this game always was interesting to see in the mags, shame it never made it, especially when it appeared to be so close to its final stages. Sounds like another game Nintendo Shat-Canned when it was so close to being done, but atleast that one got leaked and was proven to be a worthy enough game to be released....

An important announcement about Part 1.

UPDATE: October 5, 2010. Please read.

Good evening, members of ASSEMblerGames. I have an announcement concerning Shat-Canned Legends. I'm going to be blunt. I'm going to redo the Part 1 of my Shat-Canned Legends MOTHER 3 documentary. I've always been bothered about several certain things in the first part. Like some spelling mistakes, and image proportions. One major reason I have for this decision, is that I have discovered some intriguing information about MOTHER 3 / EB64 that I don't think has been openingly documented anywhere else, and that I can not pass up not revealing.

So instead of just uploading Part 2 soon. I am going to reupload an improved Part 1. I appoligize if this comes off as inconvenient to anyone who has anticipated the next installment of Shat-Canned Legends. But this move, I feel must be done to assure narration and presentation quality, and it promises an improved *final* product.

Thank you very much for reading my updates on Shat-Canned Legends: Episode 1, and have a good day.

Good to hear. I liked the first one already, but I guess there is always room for improvement.

Part 1.1 is finally out, and its much more detailed and presentable. Superior in almost every way.

(THIS PART IS ASS AND AIDS. Now being rehaulled again =()

Part 1.1 briefly details the conceptual stages of EarthBound 64 (known simply as MOTHER 3 with tentative subtitles such as キマイラの森, and 奇怪生物の森 in Japan) and to it's N64 unveiling at the Nintendo SpaceWorld 1996 at the Makuhari Messe Convention Center near Tokyo, Japan from Nov. 22-24.

Then it gets into the early concept stages for the N64 project including locales, characters, objects, ideas, etc. it then takes over to the Game Designer, Akihito Miura where he gauges just how different and difficult it was making a 3D game. Then it talks about the problems with the 64DD, and the North American anticipation.

It then goes over the significance of music composer Shogo Sakai, who, according to Itoi, was an extremely valuable asset to the project. Next, it discusses the problems there were for having to work on the 64DD. Last, but not least is the last major unveiling of the game at the Space World '99, and the public anticipation for the game.

Part 2 will come out sometime in the very near future. Right now, I just want to work on other things.

God bless Kristopher for the translations of the interview with Akihito Miura, game designer for the N64 version of MOTHER 3, as well as the Italian article about the 64DD's face-implant feature! Give it up for his awesomeness, please! I've got some exclusive info here! We got those translations here FIRST on Shat-Canned Legends!

Brilliant stuff. My knowledge about Mother 3 is a bit lacking (other than the common knowledge details that we all know), so that was all the more informative for me. I look forward to the next part!

Hah, it irks me every time I see it, too. "Shit-canned" is already past tense ;)

I did watch the video though, good stuff.

    Heh, true.

Yes, it's a good video, although it did slightly do my eyes in trying to concentrate on the text and actual video! heh. Still, the overall presentation (and of course content) is nice.
