This wont apply to a lot of you but I know members here like OE live not far from Sheffield and are most likely aware the towers near the M1 were getting sent to the ground last night. Well it didn't go well! Half of one is still standing  Left a really loud noise going for miles because I heard it.

I would say yeah they should be but there were reports of them being unsafe. Of course this could of been just a ploy to take the easy option... just like the Hac eh Old engineer?

Apparently they were no longer structurally sound (according to the demolition team who felled them - so hardly unbiased). Other than that, I hate these towers and I'm glad to see the back of them. Local opinion was divided 50/50. There was a group wanting to turn the towers into an 'arts' venue.

Really? Nothing at all? Wow thats weird I heard them loud and clear at my neck of the woods. I'm at the other side of Rotherham which is understandable but my mate from the other side of Sheffield heard it as well.

Unsafe, my arse! They use that ploy everytime, I've used it myself on projects, several times, so I know the score, lol.

...Those towers were only like 60 years old, the cement had barely set on them, good for another 200 years 'as-is' imo. You don't design and build structures as good as they were to purely become 'unsafe', overnight.

...It's the usual old scam "money talks".

I agree totally with OE here. It happens all the time and theres nothing the public can do really. Shame.

No nothing at all. I was going to go but I didn't fancy a journey to Meadowhall and back at 3 am.
