Out of curiosity, does anyone know if the unreleased US version is in the hands of any collectors? It was so close to release that someone has to have it.

Of what interest would it be? If there is one, it'd probably just be the European DC version but with the dubbed track that was in the Xbox version.

not even that. Microsoft probably paid for the "full treatment" of the title for its XBOX release.

There was a guy that took the English voice track(s) from the Xbox version and put it in the Euro DC game and rebuilt the ISO or whatever....don't remember the name of the guy or the site.

Surely you would want it the other way? I'd kill for a copy of Shenmue with the Japanese voice acting and English subtitles.

I memory serves Yu Suzuki said he favored the English voices. IMO the Japanese ones sound just as bland and if the translation is 90% or more accurate (as opposed to English words being somewhat the same meaning as the Japanese originals but made to fit in the length of time the mouth moves) I'll take the English dub please.

At the very least for the amusing quotables.

I think it's pretty clear he doesn't speak English either.

There are graphical differences that might make one prefer the Dreamcast version over the Xbox version. I used to have a link to a list of those differences... Ah, here we go.

I'm playing through the Dreamcast one (never got to beat it before) and I've got to say, these english voices are just hilarious.

  15. LMAO! That mega64 video was hillarious. BTW, this is the first time I've posted in almost 2 years... feels good to be back...

If I remember right, I once saw a pic in this forums showing Shenmue II NTSC-U encoded GD-Rs along with a Phantsay Star Online II GD-R.

The dubb Jeffma did was only certain dialog. The problem when shenmue 2 is it takes up most of the gd-rom so in order to rip a cd-r of it they had to take out almost all of the free quest speach. I would imagine with how far dreamcast emulation as progressed you could make an image with all english voices in it for emulation on pc only.
