Granted that I seem to get these games during rough patches and playing them during rough patches. These games are having a sick sort of sentimental value to me. Like if you put demons in my life I could star in an SMT game. So far I only have Persona 3, FES and Nocturne. Is Devil summoner worth getting? It's pretty common so I might go for that one next. What else? The only other SMT games I know of in English are DDS 1 and 2 and Persona 1 and 2.
Persona 4 is supposed to be out for the PS2 by December 2008, and it has been getting pretty good reviews (Built on the same engine Persona 3 is).
I got my copy of Persona 3 a few days before E3, and I enjoyed the game for a while... but the plot seemed to advance so slowly I got bored of it. I loved the style and theme of it all, but I just couldn't get back into it. Is it worth pushing on through the lulls and play through to the end?
Devil Summoner is a very good megaten. It isn't very hard because is an action RPG. The plot and the ambientation are great. DDS are the "easy" version of the "normal" megatens; you don't have to make fusions or catch demons, and the enemies aren't as terrible as they are in the main series. If you are thinking about playing them, I suggest buying both a the same time, because the ending of the first one is a really big cliffhanger. The USA version of Persona 1 is awful. With Eternal Punishment they made the things better, but, it's the second part of Persona 2 Innocent Sin, so you might not understand some things of the plot. And finally, maybe you could check this web, if you want more info about the megaten world: http://hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/megaten/megaten.htm
Yeah HG101 is a good resource. Wiki was good as well. Right now in Nocturne I'm in the Ikebukuro Tunnel I just beat Kin-Ki but can find Sui-Ki who I should have faced before Kin-ki.
I think there are two Megaten games on the GBA, and a few on the GBC. One of them is another one of those "Two color" monster catching games called Devil Children, I believe, and the GBC one is called Revelations: The Demon Slayer. I have Persona 3 and I've played a bit of it, but it feels far too..."Japanese" for my tastes. Also the whole Evoker thing is just silly and them trying way too hard to be deep like Evangelion (like Evangelion tries too hard to be deep. Just put that in there unless someone mistook my post for saying Evangelion was deep). SUICIDE IS SO DEEP, COOL, AND EDGY!
The SNES versions of SMT and SMT II have unofficial english translation patches avaliable which aren't to hard to find.
Yeah, and its also a dating sim. Thats one of the reasons I don't like it. It feels like a glorified dating simulation with emo elements thrown in...not my cup o' tea.
LOL Those are great. I totally agree. Sadly it was the whole Japanese culture thing that got me to buy Persona 3 to begin with I stuck with it until that roulette boss kicked my ass. Too much to do in this game. It's like social link........social link..oh shit I gotta level up in tartarus. THE ONLY DUNGEON and FES is hard as fuck. But I do indeed want more also I want to check out the Shadow Hearts games they're outside SMT yeah but something tells me if I like SMT games I'll like Shadow Hearts.
Revelations on GBC isn't fun. Persona 2 has really cool art and music and stuff but I hate the battles and it gets kind of boring. I want to play Persona 3 as I hear its awesome but haven't played it yet.
I spend too much time on social links in Persona 3 that I don't level up as much as I should and I get my ass kicked in Tartarus as a result. The Music in Persona 3 is however amazing
Huh? How is Persona 3 an emo game? I guess I haven't played it, but I don't get how it's emo since it seems most RPG's are like that.
Suicide imagery, the main character has a trademark Emo hairstyle, and I hear that the ending is really pessimistic. Kinda sounds like Evangelion a bit, imo.
Yet the music is so kick ass. If you read my thread in off topic you'll know my spirits have been very low lately. So SMT games are on the backburner. These aren't games to play when you're depressed.
