    Hi all,

I'm currently waiting for my certificate of eligibility and in the meantime i'll stay in Philippines.
I need to send my excess clothes and personal effects (not much) to Japan, either to the company I am working at in Osaka or in storage.

Does anyone know a good company to send these items for cheap and also safely (as in not get wet!)

Also how much hassle am I going to get from customs.
I basically don't want to send my items to Philippines and then from Philippines send on to Japan..

    thanks in advance!

Where are you sending from and how much is it? And no, I wouldn't send to the Phillipines either. USPS is probably the cheapest bet. Mark the value down, but you still may have to pay a duty. The way I understand it is certain fabrics are one things they actually tax you on.

I would ship to your company if they'll take it.

I am sending from the UK (London) and other than a NAS box, UK xbox 360 and a few xbox 360 games/ps2 pads (with converter for 360) its just clothing.
Clothing is general shirts, trousers, a few coats.

Fed ex do it for around £382 but I'm not sure what duties I'd have to pay on that

Isn't there a special ''I'm moving to this country'' type of law that lessens the amount of tax you have to pay? I'd look into it.

I think, I didn't pay any taxes when I moved my dump from swiss to here. And I had about 1000 games in the bunch. I had declarated is as personel owning goods.

But I'm not 100% sure about it anymore, may have to check the transfere bills again. But even if I had to pay something, it was like peanuts.

Probably but I have no clue what it is or how to invoke it. I'd rather just save the time and declare everything as almost worthless.

Did you post them to yourself in a box or have them delivered freight in a container? Big difference.

Yeah container. Altough my shack took only like 5m3 in size.
I could ship it with a forwarder from my previous company.

I think I'll go with these guys for the Japan items.
I reckon my clothing and misc will reach into about 80kilos
Some of the art books and my heavy NAS box will cause most of the weight.
That calculates to £195 or thereabouts.
