There's a particular Via motherboard I've been after for a while which is near impossible to find in the UK for under £200, so I was thinking about maybe trying my luck while I'm in Japan, as browsing online, it seems as if they're more readily available there. Are stores selling PC components prevelent in larger cities (specifically Tokyo & Osaka) and, also, is there any market for pre-owned components? ...or would I have better luck in Korea or Hong Kong, which I'm also going to be visiting?
TONS of large electronics shops (Bic Camera, Yodobashi camera) and TONS of small shows in places like Akihbara sell every PC part you can think of. If it's sold in Japan, you should be able to find it. New or used.
Down here we have used PC shops that are owned by Softmap which they have in Tokyo. Good prices and quite a good selection. yakumo
Depends on what you are looking for. SofMap has a great selection of Notebooks and accessories, and Akihabara obviously has lots of wonderful gaming components.
Thanks for the replies guys. They did have the model I was after on kakaku.com, but the prices were higher than US prices. Also had a search on the Sofmap site, but couldn't find any. I should be able to check out what Akihabara has to offer in less than 48 hours!!
