I have a 4 swtich 2600 that has an a/v & s-video mod done. This is my very first console as a kid (grandparents got it for me). I remember playing the heck out of frogger, pacman, pitfall. So it does have some nostalgia to me. But I never play it; the games are dated etc. So I'm stuck on what to do. I've considered selling but don't even know what something like this goes for. What would you do?
If it was my first system I wouldn't get rid of it. I have the N64 my parents got me for christmas, I'd never ever get rid of that either would I sell Mario Kart 64 I got with it on the day. If my grandparents got the N64 for me I probably would hold on it much more and protect it somehow. My grandparents mean a lot to me, and I still have even kept all the toys my grandfather bought me as a kid. It's up to you, and it's something you have to think about it.
It's really down to what you hold more dearly - the sentimental value of the console or the space it is taking up plus a temporary cash injection. A boxed 4 switch is worth a fair price. Unboxed, less so. Depends on how many games it comes with, what games etc. Someone may pay you a bit more as it's modded. One seller on eBay keeps shifting them for $105 console only. Another, with bids, sold for under $70 plus about $20 shipping.
Well this is the off topic section... Yes ultimately the decision is mine. But I will remember my grandparents from memories of them, not the 2600 they gave me sitting in a closet. I'm up in the air, I don't need the money and don't need the extra space. But I also like to de-clutter everyone in a while. So I was just seeing what other thoughts/opinions out there were.
I get it but I also find it odd when people need justification from others to either have or not have something, but for what it's worth, I'd keep it, you'll likely regret it in a year from now if you get rid of it. I wish I'd kept all of my old toys/consoles.
