You have to cut tracks on the PCB, though. That's just as bad!

I totally agree! LED just sitting under clear plastic or a hole drilled so it sits poking out is yuk, however with an even spread and masked so that you just see a color haze, then I still think it can look good depending on the item in question.

For example, I shall now reveal to those who've not seen my Mini Naomi thread, the kind of thing I thought looked a lot better than what I originally had. It's not exactly what I wanted, but it's worked out ok (imho)...

    And from a distance

It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but frankly neither was the original prototype Sega cabinet tbh. I love it in that kind of 'fat girl puts out' kind of way!

A concept far too complex for your little American mind to grasp

Nah, seriously, it's kinda hard to explain. You kinda need to experience and differentiate them for yourself.

Try searching on the amazing repository of information you have at your fingertips known as THE INTERNET ;-)

I hate that response. I like it better when people tell me what something unfamilair is! Adds more personality to it.

    Okay, now I get it.

Like I said before, you really can't put it into words. You can give some generic stereotypes that may or may not apply. What help is that, though? You're better off seeing them, so search for videos.

Chavscum isn't going any more or I would have linked you to it.

Leave it and mod a regular or (a secondary skeleton) Saturn.

By the way... chav = douche, wigger, guido, etc

Do the switchless region mod listed above as it is flawless and add some LED's under the shell. Just don't drill it for the love of God!!

Switched mod = solder a couple of pads.

Switchless mod = permanently cut some tracks.

You can put the switched mod in without drilling. A common place to put the switches was inside the cart slot. You could also put it through the VCD card port and just open up that flap on the back. However, the switchless mod requires PERMANENTLY cutting the tracks on the PCB.

How can you say don't drill holes in the case, then tell him to cut tracks on the PCB? Both are permanent "damage" to the originality. A soldered pad can be desoldered and left practically "as new".

Agreed, but the board isn't what was special in the first place as it doesn't differ from a standard board. The case on the other hand isn't so easy to come by,

Gah! There are at least 10 revisions of the Saturn, including the board, so no ;-)

Well yeah, but I mean it's not like the skeleton Saturn has a board that was made only for it or anything?

It'll be a very late model, so pretty much, yes.

I'm not sure of the VA number of the skeleton board. It'll be VA9 or higher, though.
