Ah CeX, It's like company policy to play hockey with all their consoles before they go on sale. My friend bought a PS3 from one in croydon and when he got it out of the box it looked like someone had used it to test out a shiny new hammer. He tried to at least get a discount and they defended the increased price by saying it was boxed and refused to even let him return it because it worked. But yeah good decision to take the Wii back, clearly not like new and without the mario game you might aswell just cover a regular wii in red tissue paper
Nice. I knew they'd take it back because they new all too well it wasn't as new. Good to hear you got the cash back. Yakumo
Although I'm not completely clear on the customs and culture of the Japanese, it's nice to hear they took it back without issues. I would have probably gotten over the scratching, then again, I wouldn't have bought it because it's red; for some reason, I really can't stand red all that much. On a side note, what's with the gloss finish being put on every freaking electronic these days? It just ruins the quality of the console in the future, unless it was bought directly new by a collector and kept in pristine condition. I miss the matte finish on the older systems of the 90s; those were the days..
The Japanese are the greatest. Extremely nice and friendly. If they do something wrong, they will instantly say sorry. Besides, they are basically the inventors of all the best games and electronic products around us ;-) .
I would say it's more accurate that the Japanese don't like being inconvenienced, called out, or taken out of their comfort zone in any way. :-(
Thank you for the hint. I will remember this when I go to Japan one day Good to hear you got your console returned ok.
I hate this opinion that glossy = sexy. Compare a Mega Drive with a nice matte finish to a Wii or PS3. The two glossy consoles are ugly as sin compared to Mega Drive. DEATH TO GLOSSY!
+1 I love the way my NEO GEO AES is looking, like the MD it has a nice matte finish and wont scratch when you look at it a bit faster than you should(like phat PS3s...) I think the Wii is more resistant to scratches than the PS3.
To be honest. I don't ever recall scratching any systems I've previously owned. I got my first Wii when I was deployed to Iraq (Yes, I was the first dude to bring my Wii to war) and I remember taking out of the box and noticing that the Iraqi dust on my hand had left fingerprints on the console. I quickly took a microfiber cloth and tried to clean it up... only to find that they wouldn't leave. Those dusty red fingerprints were there until I sold the console... that is how soft and porous the finish on the Wii is.
