I have a protoype unit without HDD in the sidecar and i was trying to put a 250gb one but it cant format it. I dont want to use a recovery , is there another way to format it and use it? The 360 sees the HDD and tries to format it but after the 'format' it still cant use it.
What flash are you running,if I remember correctly if the flash is to low you cant format the hdd within the dash.
From gf: "that if he has another dev to recover with his new 250 connected, then put the 250 inside of the proto kit, and he should be fine"
Tried several 'tricks' but no luck....any other ideas?? Anyone knows if there is a restriction of how high recovery i can use? Damn its very difficult to locate an old recovery dvd...
Tried to use a 250gb wd formatted disk via hddhackr but no luck! I then took apart a sidecar of a xna and tested its hdd to the beta and... everything works great!!!
Even if this worked this is a TERRIBLE idea, fuses change value between recovery jumps (Not to be confused with the fuses being blown), using a older flash without having the original recovery would only lead your box to not boot if there was a big gap in the recovery versions not to mention there was nothing in here about backing up your nand after you recover the first time. Sneaky don't take this the wrong way its only constructive criticism but if he had tried this and it had booted flash360 and the recovery he would have a potentially dead kit. Only options. 1. Find a way to update your flash version. 2. Send the HDD to someone with a later flash version to format 3. A recovery could potentially format the drive for you if you can get one to run.
Are you sure about the fuses? I dont think that is right. If they did pose a problem I could have never been jumping from a 9xxx recovery to a 5xxx and back, around 5 times.
There was a big discussion about it here not too long ago in a beta kit thread did you do your jumping without a recovery? I had 2 backups of my kit one recent and one very old, I tried recovering my dev after it was attacked but it only took the recent one which lead me to believe this was correct as it has been stated before I'll look for the quote around here. Anyway found the quotes with a little searching in the PN bricking thread there was controversy around it but there was another thread surrounding a beta kit where it was argued again and someone confirmed it however rather or not the fuses change you cannot flash back and forth using a high jump kernel without a recovery.
I agree with him, we should get tmbinc or someone with more technical knowledge to confirm, before making bold statements tho.
As I said before rather or not the values change the above statements all agree on one thing you need a recovery to go back and forth from high jumps. You don't need someone with "more technical knowledge" to tell you this.
