Signatures with a video gif file.

First time its cute, after that annoying. Reason why, sometimes have to wait for page load burp to continue. Sometimes I force quit the browser rather then wait.

How does everyone feel about this, maybe either words and/or static pics only allowed in one's signature?

 

IIRC there's an option in the usercp to disable the display of signatures.
If you're in one of the situations where you can't or just don't want all the blinky-blinky sigs, enable that.

If you (or your net connection) are in the mood again, disable it again to have sigs shown again.

Or disable images in you browser - I do that from time to time, significantly speeds up web browsing.

 

Thanks, may have to go to one of those methods.

Still, would like to see signatures, as in mine showing what fellow members own or have an interest in. Just not the thread hogging video clips. Plus a tap dance to adblock everytime a new video clip signature appears.

Maybe a policy of not allowing a video clip as a signature?

Not the short simple animated gifs, but the long play bandwith eating movie pics.

 

Well to be honest it doesn't bother me at home because the Internet is lightening fast but browsing on the iPhone can be a pain. But the biggest problem of browsing with a small memory size or slow connection speed are pages full of big images.

Love this feature! - Have never been a fan of sigs, the same thing over and over again! Think I disabled sigs the first time I joined here and never looked back!

Created an advisory poll in the OP.

For the posters that have animated gif signatures, please take with a grain of salt. Just checking to see if the large animated "movie" signatures are really an issue of page load annoyance.

 

PM me their names and ill tell them to get rid of it or delete it myself.

anyone with a signature longer then their average post needs their signature reduced anyway. Sigs should be 4-5 lines in length.

 

There's a vB plugin that takes care this, incl. counting image sizes.

 

I think its the long play video gif signature that's a bandwidth nuisance.
Especially multiple replies of the same movie signature.

Not the simple animated gifs or static pics or text.

Maybe depending how this poll fares, a signature rules change?
