Silhouette Mirage

Discussion in 'Rare and Obscure Gaming' started by Greatsaintlouis, Mar 21, 2004.

  1. I found a PSX copy of this at a used gamestore today for just $7, and upon bringing it home and finding it VERY scratched, I realized why it was only $7. I think I'll have a go at it with my roommate's Disk Doctor, and if that doesn't work, I'll take it back, and so I was wondering, in the event that I return it: Which is the better version of this game, the Saturn or the Playstation one? The parts of the game that I HAVE been able to play are very enjoyable and so I'm going to try to aquire a better condition copy of this somehow, and I wanted to know which one was the better one.

Also, has anyone here played Rakugaki Showtime? Is it any good, worth the sometime steep price, and where would be the best place to find it? Thanks!

  2. I've never played the Playstation version, but I think it's generally agreed that Working Designs really seriously fucked up on the US version, so you probably want a Japanese copy. From what I understand, they actually changed some of the game rules about shooting direction to make it harder, but it also happens to sometimes create inescapable situations in some parts of the game. Essentially it's broken. I never had any problem with Working Design's other localizations (like the Lunar 2 script that everyone bitches about), but what they did to Sillhouette Mirage sounds pretty inexcusable.

it's a Treasure game made for the Saturn then ported to the PS. So the Saturn version is better :drinkers: Check out the video on my FTP. The Saturn version is a2D power house and even features the transparencies !!

would 40e be a good price for a complete Saturn version of this game, Yakumo? Or can I get a cheaper version in Tokyo? :p

40 Euros sounds fair but not cheap. In Tokyo it would probably be about the same or a little cheaper maybe. Try looking in local used game shops for cheap prices notthe chain stores. Hard Off have Saturn Dynamite Deka for 1800 yen but I got it from Magic Box for 300 yen I think it was. Oh, and Akihabara is a ripp off. Look well. One day serch for the best deals then buy them the next. There's also a cool but very small game shop in Shinjuku's Kichijouji (spell?) area. I bought my Guilty Gear limited edition there for only 1000 yen and it's mint too !! Shame I can't remember where it was :(

    HEY HEY!

I offered this game disc only for PSX up on one of my other posts for $4 shipped :)

  11. Wyte: Still have the game? Still want to sell it?

Blur2040: I've tried resurfacing it. I can now get to the second world before it starts skipping. :Hangman:

WolverineDK: Actually, since I own the thing and it's fairly unplayable now, I don't think there would be a problem if I copied it over to a CD-R in order to play it. However, I think it might be too scratched for even that, and I just have a thing about wanting to play the originals. I'm weird like that... :smt017

Have you tried professionally resurfacing it...where they take your disk, shave off all of the scratched parts, and put a new surface back on?

Edit: Like the non disc doctor way.
