sega plan saturn release , it become silver gold top coat before release 2month production line report only less than 50% good coating paint ( info from ADO japan ) ,the end they cut it. no coat is already make ,no time change colour, so the japan first release is base grey colour readly for gold top coating
I heard that Sega couldn't resolve the issue where the silver coating was prone for scratch so at the last minute it was switched to the grey...
Ah, so the mystery of the Silver Saturn is resolved. I always wanted a Saturn in that colour. It looks so much better than the grey one we got. Saying that I think the US and PAL Black one looks much worse. No matter how many times I see one they always look dirty. I ended up painting my grey Saturn Silver and Back. Funny thing is I did the paint job about 10 years ago yet the paint is still perfectly solid on it.
Looks really good in that color. Always wondered why the switch to the matte grey since I had seen that color in early promos. I like the US black as well, it fits in well with the other black sega hardware sega was releasing in the US at the time, would have preferred the silver though
