Don't worry. i'm pretty sure the concept of Simple series is lost on GOH anyways. I mean when you pirate, a budget game is nothing more then a game compared to a higher priced game. ;-)
The Dodgeball is a fun game and reminds of the old Kunio-kun classics. The Daibijin is trashy as hell. Destroy a giant bikini babe in good old Godzilla-fashion. The Double Shienryu - Warashi shooting compilation with Shienryu and Shienryu Explosion For the PS1 there are lots of gems in the simple series. The Cameraman is a superb port of the PC-Engine classic "Gekisha Boy" (Photo Boy) with some extras. The Shooting is a solid 2D-shooter with polygon graphics. Nothing too great but nice. Power Shovel was also released as a simple series game, but there was an official version by Taito as well which I prefer because of the cover design.
There were a few good Mech fighters in the PSX Simple series and don't forget Bust A Move 4 and Cotton were released as Simple games too. Just had a look through my PSX games and found The Shooting(?), a double game disc with Ray Crisis and Ray Storm on it. I've got another 2D beater somewhere as well that's all girls that's pretty good. Is it Advanced V.G. 2? I can't find it and can't remember but it is a lot of fun Oh and as ave has said above, The Cameraman, it's great. EDIT: Bollocks, Cotton is a SuperLite game, not Simple. I always get them confused. Still budget releases though.
The PS1 series had quite a few taito arcade ports that where pretty good. Hehe, I was going to correct you on that when reading before I saw the edit. =P SuperLite also had a few interesting games.
Who said anything about Pirating. Budget games are usually MEH If I were to go out of my way to buy any of these I don't want to get something that sucks. Like what happened with the Catfight
Your paying for a budget title. What do you expect? When you pay so little, you'll get an average / mediocre experience. The only time you'll do better is if your really into the subject/theme/idea. Otherwise, don't expect to find any gems. You'll probably think even less of the game if you pay nothing for it, which you are so well known for doing.
Few points 1. You have a history (we're not fish with short term memory) 2. You immediately assume they are all crap (how do you know with out having played some yourself?) Really hit up D3's website. They have mini web pages for all the games. Then hit up youtube for some gameplay video. They're budget games so it's not like they're going to cost you an arm and a leg to get some. There are many safe bets. 1. Earth Defense Force 1 & 2 2. Onichambara
Personally, I would never want to play an onichambara... it would remove most of the appeal of oneechanbara
While I haven't really payed any (I have the wii one but no wii one to play it on). It seems like a game to play in short burst as long stents of play tend to get repetitive. It seems EDF is the star of the PS2 series. The DS series has some pretty good "escape from room" games that I have played. I'm kind of sad the series has been dying out. The DS had some good ones but it really slowed down and the PSP series never really went anywhere. The DSiware series was mostly kept to 1 specific type of game.
