my psx recently broke :( and then i got a free psone of off someone, but i was sad as i couldnt use my dongle gameshark so i went on ebay and noticed they were expensive with shipping (at the time)

but i found a easy way to fix this!

at first i though they were special spindles... but all i did was dissassembled my old cd player popped off its spindle and swapped them with my broken psx booted up dave mirra and guess what? it worked i was happy!

so yeah dont buy one off the internet... just break a old cd player it saves the wait and money!

You could have just got lucky and that one happened to work. I doubt you can grab just ANY spindle from any cd drive and drop it in. If that is the case that would be awesome though.

I know of a guy who swapped a CD reader laser assembly from a PC cd drive into a Dreamcast and it worked. Makes sense because the GD-ROM uses the same hardware, except read at different rates (higher density).
