I don't know why but I, for some reason, am in love with the simple series by D3. I know they are simply just a collection of budget/cheap games but there seems to be a few jems in the collection or some that would be entertaining to check out.

Does anybody here have some hands on experience with some of the games in the series? Which ones would you recomend? I'm tempted to get a jpn ps2 and try getting my hands on a few of the 2000 series for ps2. I do also have a few of the ps1 games (2 on disc, 3 from psn) and one from ds.

Here are some videos from the ps2 series

Personaly I wish the series would bloom again (outside the DS) with Digital Distribution. I'm also excited that a new one is finaly comming to the PSP after disapearing a very long time ago.

505 Games released a lot of these games in Europe for whatever reason, and they still haunt discount bins in some places. I had Yakuza Fury (PS2, Simple 2000 Vol. 72: The Ninkyouin in Japan), a terrible beat 'em up with like three levels that I really only bought so I could trade it in for more than I bought it for

The one I'd actually like to play is the sequel to the PS2 version of Earth Defense Force, which was released in Europe too, but I've never seen it in stores. Apparently Puzzle Quest was sort of part of this series, at least in Japan. I played that one on DS until I got sick of the cheating AI and sold it. To be honest, I'd rather just play regular Bejeweled.

Edit: Does The Splatter Action/Splatter Master have anything to do with Splatterhouse? That's the rumor I heard a few years ago when it was released in Japan.

I too want to play Earth Defense Force 2 as well as two games that are pikmin like (darwin and another). Funny but yeah 505 published a lot of simple games but not a whole lot came to USA sadly. =(

Also yeah, a few western games were released in japan under the simple series. One being Puzzle Quest for ds & psp.

Here is the latest one in the psp series (by tamsoft). Its a 3rd person shooter.

The Block Kuzushi game (14, 45 (no 2) are fantastic breakout / arkanoid games. :)

There is also a Hello Kitty and Cyborg 009 versions too. Trying to find some of the Anime series licensed ones but they are quite hard to find...

There are some slightly different versions of Densha de Go on the Simple 1500 and 2000 series too.

Although apart from the above, I've just collected a few of the Mahjong games that have been released.

interesting. I collect Densha games. I always thought the D3 Densha games were just a rerelease of the full price Taito-published games. Do they have exclusive content for the Simple series?

I love the Simple series. First I bought some because they were cheap, but then I found The OneChanbara. Haha. I'm loving the Simple games for the DS too. The Shouboutai was the latest one I got and I really liked it, even though it is kind of repetitive and, well ... simple.

I haven't played Onechanbara, but I saw enough from gameplay videos.

It seems like a really crappy shallow game to me, and it seems to be more repetitive than Dead Rising.

EDF 2017 is decent I guess, it could be a LOT better though. Why don't they spend more resources on making that game not super repetitive and stuff?
