As you may remember our last monthly fundraiser went so over in donations we didn't have to raise money for the next five months! Well here we are five months later and it's time to raise money to keep the lights on once again. Our current server isn't cutting it anymore, the cpu is getting maxxed out with all the apache http requests, which is causing some people to not get connection to the database and the server will regularly send me 800-2000 error messages a week over this! The current machine uses parts you'd probably throw away, namely a core2duo cpu with under 4gb of ram. Our new machine will be a quad core xeon machine with 16gb or ram, so we should be much much faster once we raise the capital to move. Our current goal is $160 for the new server, which is a dedicated machine. Dedicated = all dmca and complaints go to me, not some admin or the webhost Cloud = all complaints go to the host, and the suspension until compliance becomes a real threat Shared = We already max out a box with one client, so sharing one with 300 people is going to get use booted As we approach the new year there will be many changes ahead for the site.
