I've had my fill of server beach, so I need a new dedicated server. If anyone can find me something cheaper than the $160 a month I am paying now , please let me know. It has to be dedicated due to the legalities of some of the materials we discuss. God forbid we have a shutdown and get sued by people on a shared machine.
Take a look here: http://www.jaguarpc.com I just switched my site over to them after a bunch of research (mostly at http://www.webhostingtalk.com). I have been pleased with their ability to respond to issues quickly and how they keep their customers informed of problems. Do not use GoDaddy for anything.
Eww, No Daddy and Super Ass Hosting! Virtual Servers are a box split into several servers by software. Yes, that's right - it is one PC running as several servers! Horrible. To be avoided, for exactly the same reasons Kev mentions. www.1and1.com - pretty much the best in the biz. Don't think my UK link code would give me the discount as it would here - seperate companies hehe! I know someone who may be able to help.... I'm just asking
OK, I talked to him. The server owner wants to talk to you, see if he can sort you out a deal. I PMed you the details.
Yeah, they only answer your calls immediately, are very polite, and have a clue. If they don't (and this is why I love them) they find someone that does.
I should have qualified my statement. I only had to contact customer service twice and both times they responded within a reasonable time and addressed the question/problem I had. The reason that they have (arguably) a horrible reputation is because they completely overcrowd their servers (for shared/VPS setups) and throttle their bandwidth (for all services). The fact that they would spend so much money each year on Super Bowl advertising also reflects badly on their management priorities in my opinion. Sure, anyone can have a bad experience with any service and those are usually the people you hear from more. Personally, I was never happy with the actual service level quality of GoDaddy.
Godaddy is an excellent domain buyer, I use them always Cant comment on their hosting though, I dont use them.
Godaddy is great for domains, but not hosting. They have weird legalese about the "free domain names"
don't know if this suits you or if you even can register there.. but this is where I got my site hosted: http://surftown.com/
