Anyone know the size of the snes mini psu connector?

I was expecting it to be either 2.1mm or 2.5mm, but this is pretty weird with some plastic big in the middle.

    anyone have any ideas?

Its the same as the original US SNES, and there is a guide to making an adaptor here:-
    http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/nintendo/snes-power.htm
As it says in the guide - Maplin have it listed as a 'DC Jack 7mm X 1mm' (Part number AR28F) which means its probably a 'Philmore 48-412' plug.

Nintendo didnt use the standard 2.1/1.5mm plug as they already used the 2.5mm size on the NES which had an AC>AC adaptor. The NTSC Super Famicom/SNES (But not PAL SNES) uses an AC>DC adaptor, so they used a different plug to prevent people trying to use the wrong adaptor.

See, this is where the confusion came in - the original US Snes I had didn't use that.. it just used a normal 2.1mm connector.

I assume from your post and the post on mmmonkey that it must have been an after market modification.

Which clears things up - my googling was getting "its the same as the US snes!" but my experience with a US snes was 2.1mm

Thanks for clearing that up, as always.
