Aside from the part finished one which FazyCruck was building/selling recently, has anyonehere acutally built a Slimline Xbox 1? I only came acrross these after seeing Fazy's one and am intrigued. I havea couple of spare Xbox's lying around, including a faulty DVD drive model (which seems ripe for the conversion!) and was wondering on how people went about doing theirs, any unexpected problems you encountered etc? I am really taken with the idea especially as they appear to look so much more modern in doing so. Any help, ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Hey lee best place to check out is the XS forums, youll find all sorts of weird and wonderful casemods on there Ive never attempted a slim, but i did build one into a miniATX PC case a few years ago which was fun, and i also helped a mate intergrate a xbox into a arcade cab a while ago as well
hey andy, Cheer for the info mate. i will go and check them out... I think that having so many regular black xbox's at my disposal has done something ot my head! lol
LOL wait till you have the tower of death like me, then youll start thinking of weird and wonderful uses for them! (xbox fort is a good one!) and get your butt on MSN mate, im on most of the days if you ever wanna chat etc
am now downloading msn accordingly! lol Xbox fort, nice idea.. Xbox car? now thats an acheivement! lol
Many years ago I built this slimline Xbox, it was for a customer who wanted an Xbox in his car, mainly as media center... http://oldengineer.com/gallery/v/mxb/xbox/custom/
I think it'd be cool to make a slimline, but without a discdrive. Have it softmodded and then load it up with stuff. I might look into it. My little bro has a small stockpile in his room right now. I wonder how small I could make it....
OE - thats pretty smart conversion.. My brother also had one fitted to his car fora whle, he just put the whole thing into the glovebox, case and all! Graciano - Agreed, thats what im thinking, i have 2x black, 1x crystal working boxese her right now and also a dead unit which i can try to cut the case down with and not worry too much if i get it wrong! the joys of bargain xboxs! lol
Since xboxes are so easy and cheap to get nowadays you can almost try anything with them and it won't matter if you break anything. I do like the homemade Xbox portable which is quite slim or at least it looks quite slim http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2006/06/homemade_portable_xbox.html
i saw that Handheld version, im not sureif itsthe green or the overall look but i just dont like it for some reason . lol
I'm at school right now but when i get home i'll try to find more pictures of it. there was a place selling a replacement case for the xbox for about 250 dollars, it was a alunimum slimline case that was made so it would blend into entertainment centers better.
That green handeld looks pretty rediculous. I don't know if it's the angle or what but it looks friggin' huge and definitely not portable.
The LCD screen is a 5" one, I guess that the actual machine is something along 10 or 11 inches diagonal... Insanely huge.
Does anyone have a link to that one slimline Xbox that didn't have a disc drive? It had a stand, I believe... was posted some months ago and was powerful awesome.
I remember seeing a slimline Xbox that had a laptop dvd drive in it,of course it wont play originals but played everything else.
well i stripped my box down today.. just need to do some measuring and the cutting can begin.. think i might do a WIP thread
yeah, do it! i for one would like to watch a work in progress. i'm thinking about doing a slimline version of one of my spares when i get some time. good luck! :icon_bigg
