    Hey Everyone, I'm making a media box and I need to get a slim-line DVD drive. Which ones are better, and for what reasons? A slot-loading drive or a Tray-loading one? Any ideas?

    Most of the time (to me at least)i don't think one is better then the other.

    The only problems i've had with a slot loading dvd drive is when a magazine i subscribed to one month had a special eco dvd which was really thin and flexible which caused a bit of problem with the drive because of this although it was fine with normal dvd's/cd's .

    Probably not related to which one is better but i do find slot loaders to look really good in use and there is not ugly tray which can sometimes get knocked if not ejected back in.

    Thats a pretty good point. Tray loaders tend to get accidentally knocked often when your changing disks and someone is goofing around beside you (^_^);

    Done that before when i was younger and i've never done it again.

    To be honest i've never had a problem with either slot loaders or tray loaders in my life apart from with these flexible discs which i mentioned so.

    Only issue I've had with slot-load drives, is they dont take 8cm disks or those weird business card sized disks either. Only a few times I've ever needed to use those though.
