I just tried the RAM upgrade this morning with great success. I used a smartxx to check each chip after I installed each chip. It booted every time with no fragging but the Extended Memory Tester failed everytime until I got the last chip installed and then it passed all 4 chips. Is this always how the RAM test works or is it the fact that the first chip the program was looking for not installed? I installed the top RAM chip next to the power connector last and I was wondering if that was the first chip the test was looking for? Does anyone know which chip is 1, 2, 3 and 4 that the smartxx is looking for? Any help at all will be great! BTW I got the RAM upgrade done first try and with having to look for bridges or any other errors! I almost thought it was not working since it went so smooth!!!! Also someone told me that if I used all 8 hynix RAM chips that it should work. Any thoughts on that? I have a few dead boards with the hynix RAM, But I thought the timing was different, I guess thats why I would have to take the samsung off and do all hynix.
Hey David, Funny I should run into you here (we have talked on team-xecuter.com about the X3 and Smartxx chips). Did you ever find the answer to this question? I recently bought the Smartxx v2 and am wanting to use it as aid for the ram upgrade. Thanks Kessen
