Exciting news for Famicom Disk System fans everywhere. Yes, both of you!

the Famicom Disk System sequel to Super Mario Bros. (deemed to hard for Western gamers) has been finally released alongside Sin and Punishment.

Although most of us have played this through All Stars, I think it's the sequel that every true fan of the original Super Mario Bros. was waiting for back in the NES days.

That said, the audio on this title should sound better than your average NES game - anyone downloading , give us your impressions =)

Indeed, although the hardcore NES feeling can't be beat when going down on a retro session ;)

I myself have had the luck to beat the game on the FDS - (and some obvious emulation back in the day, no secret).

I just wonder if the tight controls will translate well to the CLassic Pad or the Wiimote - never downloaded any NES related item on VC yet.

was it really too hard? More like the exact same game but with different levels. I only played it on the All Stars SNES, but it's nothing too special.

the FDS version did prove to be a challenge right off the bat, but then again, i was only a kid. Being a kid however, I had no issue breezing through the original title - something impossible for me at the time with SMB2(j).

it might have been toned-down for SNES though , no idea. I think more opinions are needed on this.

It wasn't altered other than the graphics changed to better suit the SNES hardware.

Seems that indeed the challenge was upped compared to the original. Now i know why I lost so many lives in that game.

Ah a misunderstanding. I thought you meant changes were made in the transition from SMB2 (Japan) to the SNES Allstars version.
