Just curious if anyone had used this proxy service before. I decided to buy a few things to do some sales again.

The first item was an unboxed Saturn with 30 games. I bought 2 more items a couple of days later. I requested shipping after maybe 3 weeks.

The Saturn + games came in it's own box via SAL for a shipping charge of $128. I thought it was strange since they advertise "batch shipping." I sent them an email to get an answer and I was told that the package was too large for batch shipping. It was less than 7.5 KG with approx. shipping dimensions of 12" x 13" x 9".

I asked again and I was told ""All the games you purchased would have nearly been a batch in of itself". Since I've shipped about oh, I dunno, thousands of boxes from Japan I know that isn't even close to a full SAL/EMS box whether it be size or weight.

I wanted to ask some people here if they have used the service, if they ever had to ship an item on it's own (i.e. no batch available), and if they ever got items roughly the same size as mine via batch.

    Thanks!

I've used it for more than 100 items in the past. But I stopped using SMJ when they charged me 21000 yen for a limited edition DS Lite that I won in an auction, but then never sent it to my place. They claimed they never received it from the original seller and blamed me for dealing with troublesome people. The seller had 100% positive feedback.

Edit: The item is *still* listed in my account and it's even marked as shipped which is clearly a lie. Also, actual shipped items usually disappear from the account after a while, this one didn't.

I never had problems with batch sending though. But I don't think I had your kind of huge boxes.

They just couldn't give me a clear amswer. We just kept going around in circles:

I asked: "Strangely, the larger auction from June 2 was sent on its own via SAL? It had been 24 days since the end of the auction and the item was still in Japan? I was told, "If the item is not yet stored in its proper location it will not be eligible for shipping. If your items store in the USA by default, you would need to wait on the items to arrive and be checked in." So how did that turn into SAL from Japan?

The response: "Invoices #4, #5 and #6 are unpaid. 2 of those invoices are shipping invoices, 1 from the USA and 1 from Japan. Below are a copy of what is not paid and the amount due for each."

Next email: "You haven't addressed the main point, which was the SAL shipping."

The response: ""CXXXXXXXXXXXXXXJP" was the SAL shipping, $117.75. Most SAL and SEA shipments from Japan start with a "C" and end with a "JP" for future reference."

Next email: "Until I get some kind of explanation as to how a package can still be at your warehouse in Japan for 24 days and shipped direct via SAL at a significantly higher cost and against your stated shipping process, we're at a standstill. This is the 3rd email I've sent and each time you respond you avoid this very specific point."

The response: "What exactly is your question? The item which shipped from Japan most likely did not qualify for batch shipping and required automated direct shipping from Japan, which is also outlined on the website."

Next email: "Can you send me the link to the page which talks about packages not qualified for batch shipping?"

The response: "We don't have such a page because it would be silly to charge you excessive shipping just to move it to the USA."

    ------------------

??? I don't think they really have a handle on their communications. And my shipping totals are nowhere in my account, the way I found out was by getting an overdue notice. I have no idea how they expected me to pay a shipping amount that they haven't given me the total for. Overall it just seems a bit messy. Maybe my account is falling through the cracks, but again, just wanted to know if anyone else had problems.

I use SMJ all the time and I have never had a single issue.

What were the other two items purchased? How exactly did you request shipping? What selection(s) did you make on the form?

I have shipped many large items through SMJ and never had a single issue. They've even bent over backwards to create custom boxes that barely cleared size limitations and even worked with me to partially disassemble other items that wouldn't have cleared size limitations otherwise.

Hate to say it, but, this sounds to me like there is a miscommunication somewhere; neither side seems to understand the other.
