I wonder if that's worse than having smoker parents around as a kid. Second-hand smoke can be as disgusting to a kid as first hand I guess. I m not going into a debate on the appreciable effects of smoke (tobacco or other).

 

This is really fucked up. I really don't see how the mother is not being charged with something (child neglect, perhaps?).

 

I think "criminal neglect" is the proper term. And yes, she should be charged. Weed stinks... bad. How did she not know? Maybe she thought just the teenagers were smoking weed in her house w/ her little kids around? Also neglect, no?

I would say this is far worse than having smoker parents. While second hand smoke is bad (it's unfiltered) you take in far less than if you were smoking first hand. A lot of the potent drugs stay in the smokers lungs as well. Getting high off of 2nd hand smoke is just not feasible. I personally think the worst thing about 2nd hand cigarette smoke is that it slowly warms the child up to smoke later. I started smoking in college around 21... was very easy, as my father smoked in the house through my whole childhood.

 

I beg to differ on the point of not being able to get 'high' on second-hand smoke (not of Tobacco). You are familiar with 'blow-backs' right? A small, poorly ventilated place can force you to inhale a lot of smoke.

I know when I was a kid and was around adults, in say cars or offices, the smoke was like a fog. (I am talking tobacco here)

Nevertheless, it's the smoke that concerned me the most when I saw the children, as the THC-Δ9 isn't nearly as harmful.

 

Man WTF! That happened here, since there's a ton of dumbass 15-16 year olds here I'm pretty sure I heard a similair story about kids giving 8 year olds pot sticks. Very messed up. =(

 

Most of the THC stays in the lungs. You can do shotguns and you're still not getting close to a full hit. Now imagine most of the smoke going into the air, then a small piece being breathed in second hand. You get the picture. I would obviously not say that it is zero, but trust me... I've been in many small, unventilated rooms with dope smoking going on. You're far more likely to get a headache from the smoke than an actual buzz from the THC.

W/ tobacco smoke you have that whole breathe in, breath out quickly, so more of the funk goes into the air. That, and way more people smoking in public (at least in Japan... not so much in the US anymore). I was around second hand smoke daily until I was basically in college. How many people can say they were around 2nd hand weed smoke EVERY DAY for 18 years?

You can get high on second hand smoke. That is a fact. It would need to be in a pretty small and enclosed area though (such as a car).

 

And it would take way more smoke than is normally available, and pretty strong weed. That is my point. You can get sunburned through glass... it will take ages though.

 

I'd give it two hours and 3-4 tampered cigarettes. You've never been to a college dorm?

 

Awfull. I myself like to sm_ke a j_int every now and then, but that doesn't mean I think it's right to force someone to do so as well....ESPECIALLY IF ITS A KID! My god. That guy/woman is insane. Point.

well our rooms in first year were mini-van sized, and there were individuals in my hall smoking all day, if that's what you mean. And I m sure my halls/year isn't unique in that feature. Oh, we re in England btw , so that might give you some idea about what I m talking about.

 

What school did you go to? They were allowed to smoke in the dorms? My first school you weren't even allowed to smoke cigarettes on campus. Jesus said so.

 

I know in France, there were smoking centers for the teachers to smoke in primary school.

that event in texas, that is all messed up. dumb kids.. mother should have beat the livin hell out of them. I would have and them some. An even worse story was that poor kid in the plane that went down in indiana. the dad wanted to punish the mom. WTF..

 

At my uni there are smoking and non-smoking halls of residence. You get asked when you apply which you want.

Smoking laws are (currently) on the city level in the states (AFAIK). Having no smoking buildings in cities in not that unheard of these days. I smoked like a chimney in university, but there were no smoking areas in the buildings. Never lived on campus at the school I graduated at... only my first year, at a private Christian university.

 

Well, the smoking laws where I live gets very fucking heated at the moment, every kind of restaurant and pubs and etc, that is bigger than 40 square metres will now be NON SMOKING all the way. And I think it is fucking stupid, and I am tired of the rabblerousing of the smokers. And the hunt for those like me who enjoys a normal cigarette every day.
