http://www.snega2usb.com Video I don't know if this interesting device has been posted before but it's now available for pre order. While it's whole premise seems a little superfluous as most collectors will have the original hardware to play a game on and those who wish to dump a game will probably have more accurate ways of doing so I like this device. The idea of going round a carboot sale with a laptop and being able to try a game on the spot to confirm it works is quite appealing to me.
Interesting.. but you ve committed to mention the most interesting and perhaps deal-breaking aspect of this novelty: Price!
$90! You are better off buying a Copier and being able to play back your R0MZ in addition to dumping games to play on an emulator. Still a neat idea but I certainly wouldn't buy one unless I had money to burn.
It looks like the easiest to use dumper that I've seen. Using MoD's cable to dump genesis ROMs is a little annoying sometimes, and I think the floppy drive on my Mega Beckup is broken. Still, around $100 is a lot, but it does dump SNES games too. I guess if you run into a lot of betas this would be very useful.
90$ for both systems seems reasonable to me. I would buy one. Then i would be able to get my Mega Drive games back from my friend who I gave them to years ago when My last one died. However it doesn't seem to state whether we can save games on Mega drive games as well..
It is quite pointless, since copiers go for much less used, and almost every game out there has already been dumped.
I agree that it's a device to solve a problem that doesn't exist. But it's execution is pretty slick... Anyhow to each their own.
Also the dumping algorithms are constrained to MCU firmware and won't necessarily work with unheadered/unlicensed bankswitched games.
From memory that's a 16M LoROM cart (like the most common type), and likely it has everything intact, so chances are it will work.
