Just like the title asks-has anyone else done this? I recently picked up a 1-chip SNES to put into a Super Famicom shell. Thankful it was cheap and the SNES shell was messed up, so I didn't feel bad about the swap. Prior, I had been reading the 1-Chip bypass mod, as seen here at http://www.retrorgb.com/1chiprgb.html , to make the 1chip output a picture on par with the rgb modded mini. After doing the mod, I must say that I am very impressed. I feel like the quality surpasses the mini, but I may be mistaken. Overall, the picture seems to be slightly cleaner and sharper with he mod. The white line is completely gone. Its not even noticeable in FF3/6. Contrary to what many on the internet say, id still see the white line on my mini, occasionally. It was very very faint, but there none the less. If you have done this mod, id love to know what you think about it.
Done this mod too to get rid of the white bar and sure enough it was gone afterwards. It also makes it easier to find RGB cables for the PAL version since you no longer need the 75Ohm to GND in RGB lines of the cable. Considering how simple that mod is I would do it again without hesitation.
Perhaps I should try this again? I did it years ago, but I made the amp a little different (same as the amp used in either PCE or NES RGB modding). However that didn't help much. The picture still had the annoying but subtle ghosting which bothers me the most. I didn't really pay any attention to the jailbar, so no idea if that was fixed or not The jailbar can be fixed easily as it turns out, by adding one or two capacitors between 5V and GND on the stock RGB encoder
Yeah, I suspect that the capacitor between 5v and gr on this mod also does the same thing. You should try it again though. Results turned out great. Out of curiosity, can someone with better knowledge comment on why the amp works so well? Could this mod applied to other SNES revisions?
