Hello, this is my first post here, I'm very interested in all this dev stuff and I've recently made my first purchase in this area: It was used to upload games for a small fee on special machines in stores in Japan. It can hold 7 games max and I think it has 32 mbit space, and also think games can span more blocks. Do you know/own this? What's this worth (I payed something like 15$ for it, can't remember exactly)? How can I write a game on it, perhaps with a wildcard or similar? Can I write any game on it, also homemade stuff, or is it a special format file only?
I believe Kyu- here knows a lot about those, you'll have to find one of the kiosks from Japan and insert some yen in order to write some games to it. I remember people used to talk about somehow trying to get one of the Kiosks but I don't think anyone ever did something like that.
bring em to lawsons and load roms onto it for a fee. not very rare, but cool. I don't know , but if you live in the sticks you might have an old kiosk and be able to load games onto it still.
Indeed, they still have Loppi machines :smt023 Also, my Profighter X2 backup unit can write empty carts, but I don't know much about it as I've never come across one.
Sadly you'll need to visit a real NP machine, nothing else can write them for sure. You got a great price on one though, I couldn't find one in Akiba (figures) for under $55, in horrible condition. Regarding the Wild Card/Pro Fighter memory carts, I know for sure that there once was a upload to memory card feature on the SWC but on the PFX? Supposedly FFE made NVRAM cartridges, They were released n very small quantities, probably just a slightly altered cartridge.
What's lawsons? OK, never mind that. Thanks google. Even getting one of those 'Loppi'-machines will probably do me no good I guess. I'll look for those NVRAM carts then...
Sorry, what I meant by that is a game cartridge modified to use non-volitile memory (battery-backed SRAM.) This must be used in conjunction with a SWC3201 with special BIOS. If you would simply like a reprogrammable SFC cartridge, how about the SuperFlash? It's available at Tototek's store www.tototek.com
Lawsons still use the loppi machines but the newer ones don't have the SFC upload section. A Lawsons in the city next to here called Moji had one last year. That Loppi machine allows you to upload SFC and GB games to blank carts. It's possible that it's still there but I never go to that place any more so I wouldn't really know. Yakumo
