    Hello,
Hope i havent overlooked threads to this topic, but i have nothing find (google&forum).
I search for an cheap EPROM Programmer (with a USB Port were great) to burn 27C801 EPROMs (SNES).
To example i have seen the BX32 Batupo:
    http://www.progshop.com/shop/programmer/BX32/eprom-programmer.html
Work anyone with this programmer, and can approve that this work with SNES eproms? (I am not sure if "27C" Support really work with SNES)
Or is the "USB Chip Programmer" better (the same price at the moment):
    http://www.progshop.com/shop/programmer/usb-chip-programmer/index.html (He support 27c too)

Or know somebody any other model (that i can order at a onlinestore)?

A essential question to eproms: Can i buy old SNES carts and burn my own code on this or i need "new" eproms? (Can i use normal Blacklight to erase eproms or i need really a eprom eraser?)
Sorry but I have absolut no experience with eproms.

Have anyone an idea  ?

    Thanks

Willem programmers, though crap, do support 27c801 usually, and are cheap.

You need an eprom eraser or an equivalent UV light to erase an EPROM. You can't efficiently do it with black or any other kind of light. And even if you have an UV lamp, it might not be of the correct intensity, etc. Plus, UV light at the intensity needed to erase an EPROM might even be unhealthy to the human eye, but haven't done the research on that.

Thank you for the answer.
I will buy now the "WILLEM EPROM PROGRAMMER 6".

    You mean EEPROM?
I think the Willem Programmer should be write 29f800 too.
If i understand you right i can use 29f800 EEPROM on a SNES Cart like 27c801 EPROM, and rewrite multiple without need an EPROM eraser?

    thats great :icon_bigg

yes thats exactly what I mean there should be no problem using the 29f800 in the snes cart, in fact with a little extra circuitry you could program the the chip in the cart with a flying lead to the programmer so thats no need to keep opening the cart

A little extra circuitry? Flash don't have JTAGs. If the target cart is only ROM (very few games) so there won't be any contention with other parts, you wouldn't need any extra circuitry, just remove the cart from the console and program through a DIP extension. Since that won't be the case with most desireable games, to program in circuit you'd need a ROM emulator or PC-SNES interface (which would require no extra circuitry cartridge side), neither of which are light projects.

If you want to remove the cart every time you wish to reprogram it then yes this is true, What I meant was that extra circuitry would be needed (address/data mux) if you wish to program it while in the console.

Or just tristate buffers, but either way, you're halfway to a ROM emulator, without the benefit of emulation or lack of device programmer. And you'd still need another PCB made since nobody smart would rework that into a Nintendo board.

I would recommend buying a programmer only to make so called "reproduction" carts, or for producing final builds of your homebrew. If the intention is to reprogram the cartridge, it would be far smarter to just buy a flash cart such as Tototeks instead of reworking numerous Nintendo carts for Flash that you must manually program. A commercial flash cart will even cost less than a good device programmer! If you intend to rewrite cartridges a LOT however, such as testing game builds, I wouldn't recommend anything but a RAM based copier or better yet a ROM emulator with a reset signal.

I use the Batronix Batupo and it works with 27c801 eproms.
he burns all eproms that i need out of 27C322 and 27c160 and i really like the support!
