Hello freinds. was just curious if anyone would mind please , as to direct me to this " dsp1 installation walkthrough " ive heard mentioned a few times. ? ive got the snes everdrive with the dsp1 space and a copy of pilot wings but have had zero luck in finding the steps on going about installing it. thanks for taking the time to read chums. look foward to any help.
Damn . guess thats a no ? well ill be embarking on this journey myself then. ive decided to take pictures as i go along so anyone else who may need some assistance will have a somewhat detailed layout of my endeavors to install the dsp1 chip. peace
Someone here knows. I don't know if it's just a matter of soldering the chip in place or not. I would guess that it is, but can't confirm.
i figured thats all itd take . ima give it a go when i get some time this weekend . thanks for reading . ill keep ya posted.
I thought somebody else would chime in with a good response, but since they didn't i'll post what I know. Your going to need a DSP-1 chip (obviously) a surface mount 74HCU04 and a clock generator/ceramic resonator (The one used with the DSP-1 in the donor game will be fine) and possibly some SMT resistors. The placement for the DSP-1 and the 74HCU04 should be obvious by looking at the Super Everdrive PCB, but you might have problems with the ceramic resonator placement since there are no vias to solder it to, so it will require you to manually connect it up somehow. I cant tell you much about the SMT resistors, although they may even already be on the PCB? For more info I would look carefully at these pictures:- http://img6.imageshack.us/f/img1008mr.jpg/ http://img52.imageshack.us/f/img1005c.jpg/ and these posts by KRIKzz:- http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=471464#post471464 http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=471289#post471289 http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=471402#post471402 http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=472978#post472978 and this post by Tomy:- http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=474907#post474907 I hope that helps
I think you need to provide it with a clock signal. There is some mention of it around here in a thread.
I don't mean to be a jerk, but isn't Mario Kart and Pilotwings the only two worthwhile games using DSP1? What would be the purpose of this? Again, not trying to be a jerk, I'm actually just curious.
Well I kind of agree with you. Although I have no idea about any of the Japanese game's quality. That being said, I cannot seem to give away non-DSP-1 Super EverDrive Deluxe's anymore, everyone is waiting for Ultimate version with DSP-1 chips. I guess its more about just having it.
I like Super Air Diver 2 with is DSP1. There are probably one or two more cool games using DSP1 besides Pilot Wings and Mario Kart.
A lot of the time for me I just like to have the most complete version I can get my hands on. For me that was DSP1 plus USB even though I probably won't use either of those features much. Hell I don't even know how to use the USB portion I'll have to do some research to figure out how to send code to the snes via usb. @stoneagegamer. Wait giving away Super Everdrives? I'll take one please
