Some people on these boards may know me from the million-and-four other boards that I post on. I've been following these boards for a while, but I haven't ever posted before. I am posting because I have had two systems in my possession for about a year now and I really want to know what they are, either to pass them on or to be able to do something with them myself. A while ago, I had someone sell me a bunch of systems (I run the GOAT Store, so this isn't uncommon at all). I got the systems as well as a few games and I paid, figuring that I would test them at a later point in time. I let them sit for a couple weeks, and then I pulled them out to put them in inventory. I was very surprised with what I found. There were seven systems. Of the seven systems, five of them were as far as I could tell normal systems. The othe two were different -- there was a Genesis and a SNES that both had and still have what appear to be IDE cables coming out of their cartridge ports. I contacted the seller, and she told me that these came from her friend who worked for a video game company that was cleaning out a bunch of old stuff. I asked which company it was, and she said that she didn't know, but she thought it started with an A. I've tried to find out any information about them, but I haven't found anything other then to say they don't look official at all. My one thought is that perhaps these came from Accolade when they were looking at reverse engineering the Genesis, but there is no proof. The IDE cables are black with blue connectors. The SNES loads games, but the Genesis has it's chip snipped so that it can only work when games are loaded through the IDE cable. Any help figuring out what these are would be greatly appreciated. I'll take some pictures and put them up either today or tomorrow to help with the mystery. Thanks!

Although I have nothing to contribute to this particular thread, I'm thinking these might be some sort of backup devices that were used to backup these carts into rom images.
