Hi Guys, Following MMMonkeys guide, i successfully 50/60hz my spare SNES however when i did the same for the Lockout chip (following the same guide) the snes will not turn on when the lockout chip is disabled, as far as im aware you connect it to either Ground or +5v depending on if you want the chip off or on, however each time i set the switch to ground the console refuses to turn on, however once i have flipped the switch it boots up perfectly, the PAL/NTSC mod works fine however anyone have any ideas? Cheers!
Why dont you replace the CIC with the SuperCIC mod? Its switchless and does the following: The starting up in the correct mode for the game, then switching to your preferred setting gets around the protection found in some games. (so wire pin 4 high) edit: Should probably give you a link to the mod: http://wolfsoft.de/wordpress/?p=603 If you need a chip programmed for it, let me know - I ordered spare pics when I did mine. Can sort you out a replacement LED to go with it too.
cheers ad, i will definately do this for my personal snes as that sounds spot on, however for this current one im a little baffled as to why it doesnt work the way i have done it, are my thoughts on the +5v and Ground correct? do you have any idea why it would be refusing to turn on with the chip disabled?
long as you lifted pin 4 on the lockout chip - assuming you followed the guide correctly (no wiring mistakes), it should work.
