I have an SNES mini (RGB-modded with THS7314) that I usually connect to a PVM. There seems to be an issue with sprite glitching in some games. When I used it on my scart-tv I noticed that the TV switches away from AV/RGB and comes back in the next seconds. I suspected there might be an issue with 5V for switching-voltage that goes to pin 8 and 16 on the scart but looking at the line on my oscilloscope the were no issues at all. I use an SD2SNES with the mini, the cart runs fine on other SNES consoles. The scart-cable is working perfectly, I can tell because there are no issues with other consoles. The picture doesn't go away on the pvm so it can't be an issue with the RGB lines or sync. Here's a video what the glitches look like: When I'm lucky, sometimes it plays normal without these sprite-glitches. There's plenty of things I already tried: -replaced the 7805 regulator -exchanged the cartslot for another one -replaced both RAM chips -tried another power supply Nothing helps and I'm running out of ideas :-(
That's something I can't test because the mini has no SuperCIC and I only have PAL carts laying around :/ I had this setup running for at least a year without issues...
Id suggest testing that out, there have been all sorts of commits on the sd2snes firmware about address lines etc and issues with some consoles and not others. Its nothing to do with the voltages on 8 and 16 of the scart. Edit: You could also try some of the older sd2snes firmwares, see if any of those improve matters.
Ok, I'll try that. If it turns out to be a FW issue I'll report that to Maxi, but he's surely busy with the new settings-menu and not in bug-fixing-mood ^^ THANKS!
Just noticed you said its been running fine for ages in an edit. In which case, it looks like a ram issue. Try reflowing the solder on the legs first.
If you've reflowed the pins everywhere and there aren't any signs of corrosion, I'd try cooling the ASIC with compressed air. This should affect the OAM DRAM cells, which might have failed.
That's not true! This game has a simple CIC installed which has no influence on the game loaded by the CPU. However, the game works fine for me (PAL version) on all my systems with SuperCIC or with simple deactivated CICs. It also works fine on my sd2snes.
This is one game that I have issues with on my sd2snes. It glitches, just like the video. I wonder why?
Have you tried good/tested roms? Have a member confirm a good rom and test it with your setup. I had similar issues with the TB Everdrive.
The ROM shouldn't matter, well unless someone figures out why this game glitches on a mini/1-chip and makes a patch. Even the original game has these issues on those consoles.
