So i wasnt paying attention and hooked up the wrong cable to my SNES Mini (have a small polarity reverser extension cable that wasnt connected), so basically sent the wrong polarity to the SNES and now it wont power on. I guess the Internal use is blown, is the fuse the little white block infront of the power regulator labeled F1 and 1500 written on it?....

If so where can i get a replacement from in the UK or can a substitute be used? or could it be the 7805 regulator, is that the same type used in the NES system, i have some LM7805CV which are rated at 5v 1.5a would they be ok to use?

    Thanks

This indeed looks like the fuse. Do you have a multimeter to do a continuity test on it?

OK, tested the fuse for continuity and im getting no beep from my MM, so the fuse is toast!. Where can i source the same type of fuse, and what type is it...im guessing 1.5a due to the 1500 on the fuse itself?

Could i use a simple inline fuse and just solder a wire to each pad where the original fuse was??...

a bit on the large size i know but would probably server a purpose?

You could use that, 1.5 amp sounds about right. Not sure how much current a snes mini pulls but my feeling is that between a 1 and 1.5 amp fuse would be good.

    its 1.5amp

You can get direct replacements from ebay or solder in what ever fuse you like thats same specs.

Thanks, or though im not sure if there are holes under the smd fuse on the pcb, so i dunno if these through hole fuses will work?

You just need to connect the legs to the two points where the surface mount fuse was. But you should practice your surface mount soldering.

I know your tell me, strange thing is there are 1 and also 2 amp fuses that are like £1,.......im guess where fuses are involved it would not be a good idea to get a 2amp fuse for the snes mini?

I can get them much cheaper but from Hong Kong so will take about 2 weeks to get here, and Maplin dont appear to do them or even through hole fuses fuse that i could temporarily use

It's not a good idea to replace a 1.5a fuse with a 2a fuse. You want the fuse to blow and not something else.
