Have tried to do the RGB mod on a SNES MINI, but im getting audio but no video. Here is the install.... I first tried without the orange composite sync wire and then with but still didnt help. Im using this SNES Mini in conjunction with a XRGB-Mini. I take it the SNES Mini uses the same RGB scart lead as a standard SNES console?
Yes, but the lead uses composite video not composite sync (unless you bought a 3rd party cable). Does the xrgb need csync? Also, test the fuse in the console, as it's very easy to blow them when working on a snes
Yeah i got my snes 3rd party cable, i think i got it from retrocables.com or the ebay seller retro_console_accessories. How can i find out which type of sync the cable uses?. Here a pic of the scart lead btw... and the type of resistor i use on the R,G and B lines.... Purple, Green, Black, Gold and Brown which i believe is 75k??
Yeah i check with a composite lead before i started the mod just to make sure the SNES work and it was fine. Ah so i have the wrong pin soldered then, and need pin 18?. I was following the guide here... http://gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id=av:snes2rgb
Hmm ok i remove the sync wire from pin 7 and placed it at pin 18 as suggested, but still no display. I should add that the input light on the XRGB-Mini does come on when i turn the SNES so it is receive a signal for the SNES, im just getting a black screen with only audio, and im still getting video via a composite cable so the SNES hasnt been damage from the install in anyway!. Im wondering if its the resistors im using, what would happen if i didnt use any resistors at all??
check with composie now, because it worked before the mod doesnt mean you have not blown the fuse since
I have the wrong resistors.... Purple, Green, Black, Red and Brown 7,5,0, x100, +1% So im actually using 750ohm resistors, would explain the black screen i guess. Will teach me to only read the label on the bag and not actually check the contents
YEAH all sorted now!!!!! SNES MINI now RGB modded, i used 68ohm resistors!. Pictures captured with SNES MINI going through the XRGB-Mini.... Any suggestion how to best deal with that 'Blistering' on the top of the case, i know im not going to be able make it look like new, but if i could reduce the appearance of it would be great. I was think about getting some super fine wet and dry sand paper and giving it a go??
I'm confused. This picture is a 75 ohm resistor (not 75k ohm). Purple, Green, Black (750) x Gold (0.1) = 75 Is that an actual picture of a resistor you used? Because with ones like that, your picture should have been fine, unless something else was wrong. Or, were these the only ones you used: Actually, these would be 75k ohm resistors (not 750 ohm): 750 x 100 = 75 000 Having 1000x resistance would certainly cause a black picture.
