Hello! I've noticed that one or two of my SNES units seem to have bad power sockets.
Jiggling the cable causes the console to reset or hang. While I've tried to not jiggle the cable, I am having difficulties not jiggling it. :topsy_turvy:
So I figure the most logical solution is to replace the power sockets!

Does anyone know of a compatible part I could pick up for cheap? Or what the dimensions of the socket are to help my search?

Does the power socket seem loose or maybe just a touch up on the solder points might work.

It's the socket itself sadly, I thought it might just have been a case of Mega Drive II where the solder is cracked.
I did reflow them anyway in the hope it would work, but no dice!

Well if you can't find a replacement you could install a power jack where the rf unit is,simply remove the rf unit and install a power jack that uses a nut.

I actually did this to a snes.

Excellent idea! I have a truckload of DC-in sockets like that too (suited for Mega Drive of course).
That means I could then just use Mega Drive adapters instead of SNES ones!
I'd end up sticking composite and sound ports on the back too. Were those just fed from the multi-out socket pins?

The multi-out is fine, actually maybe there isn't a point me doing that just yet.
At least not until all the multi-out composite cables of the world have disappeared.
I know the GameCube has a few. And there's a few GameCubes as well.

Oh damn, I completely forgot about RGB!

    What an excellent idea! Danke!
