That power supply seems to be intended for use with a laptop. The aim of selecting a replacement power adapter is to find one with an output as close to the original. The original SNES power supply is labeled as having an output of 10 volts DC (unregulated). This label reads that it will output 10.5-19 volts DC (regulated).

So why is the output given in a range rather than a specific value? It's because it's trying to be compatible with as many laptops as possible. My understanding is that these kind of power supplies have a sensing circuit built in that allow it to determine the correct output voltage. I'm not sure if this is correct in this case, and if so, if it will be able to identify that it should be putting out ~10 volts DC and not 19 volts.

In either case, it works...because in either case (10 or 19 volts DC), this voltage is hitting a 7805 regulator to be reduced to a regulated 9 volts DC. It was intended to be fed 10 volts DC, and so while 19 volts is technically still within the max specification for most 7805 regulators, it will likely cause additional heat that will burn the regulator out (and possibly surrounding components) quicker.

Is it a pal SNES? The NTSC one uses a funny connector I have not seen on any adapter but the original one.
