i recently acquired a snes for free from a guy i bought a ton of games from, but the psu port is done there are just 2 metal things where the port should be. I want to buy a replacement port and desolder and resolder the new one on, but cant seem to find where to buy them :/ any ideas??? thanks to all help
The port is built into the shell. You can cut the port out and put in a normal 2.5mm or 2.1mm jack. You will need to do the same on the PSU though.

i ended up ordering a replacement peace from amazon for like $12 the snes was free so i didnt mind having to invest $12 into it no biggie, do you know if it is difficult to replace the rear component? i know it is soldered but if you had to rate it 1-10 1 being simple 10 being extremely advanced what would you rate it? i ordered my nintendo screwdriver as well because i need to fix a gamecube so figured it would be good to have and havnt gotten around to opening it up yet to check for myself
i will look into this as well if i have complications simply replacing it thanks to all of you for your suggestions and help
snes is basically toast (in terms of *ever* using a Nintendo power supply again) if that socket breaks. About the only other source of its bizarre type, would be an even rarer korean snes.
o ok, so i should be fine then if i replace it though right? i bought an exact replacement part from inside the USA
Probably. Any idea what happened? If the plastic piece was just cut out, it should go ok. I'd be worried if that damage was done through force...
Depends on your skill level and tools. The difficult part will be getting the original out. Soldering the new one in isnt that hard really.
i wish i knew, i picked up a lot of about 45 nes and 19 snes games locally and the guy had this in his closet gave it for free but didnt say anything about it
idk how id classify my skill level, i solder often, have jtagged abou 20 xboxs, rghd about 20 as well dual nanded my slim which was work replaced a port on a genesis. i would say im am intermediate with soldering, if anything i will eat my 15 for the part, will be fun to try anyways, i am getting another snes i believe in the next 2 weeks like new so not the end of the world, i could always mod a different psu port
