    Hello,
I thought about getting a switchless mod for my SFC. But I would only do that if I really wont have any problems with PAL games in 60Hz.
Is there someone who can tell me if a SFC with switchless mod will work as good as PAL-SNES? Are there any knwon sound issues or picture problems. Will all the games work?

Here are some vidoes I found on youtube. One in English, one in German and one in French:

    German:

Here is a youtube-video of a guy showing the problems his modded snes when playing a PAL-Starfox/Starwing in 60Hz:

Would I have the same problems with a switchless-modded SFC?

It's a great mod, the name is SuperCIC. But Starwing and a couple of other games will have glitches in 60hz. It's because the game was programmed to run in 50hz.

I dont think this question makes much sense...

If you have a SFC its 60hz, but with the switchless mod you can switch between 50 and 60hz - so you wont have the problem mentioned above.

I think he's asking if starwing will work fine in 60hz. And the answer is NO.

But if he is installing the switchless mod, you switch between 50 and 60hz, that is the point of the mod.

He also asked if his SFC with switchless mod is as good as a PAL Snes (which is 50hz). In which case the answer is yes as you can switch between both.

But I agree, the question doesnt make complete sense.

So let me explain it more precisely. I do have a SFC, but as I live in Europe right now it is easier to get PAL games on flea markets. So buying an additional PAL-SNES would be an option but I would prefer not to have another console lying around.
So before I get a mod or another SNES, I woulld just like to know if a SFC with the SuperCIC is a real alternative to the PAL-SNES, when it comes to compatibility with PAL-games.

    Yes,

If running SuperCIC you can use any game and can also switch between 50hz and 60hz.

If you tried to run games designed for 50hz at 60hz, you will get the problems you saw in those videos. But you would just switch to 50hz mode and it would work fine.

That are great news. So I will get the SuperCIC.
Do you know by any chance if there is any list with all (or at least some) of the games for the SNES that were optimized and will not work properly at 60Hz. Such a list for the genesis/mega drive would be great as well.

couple of games i know are region protected:

    Mega Drive
Street Fighter 2 Special Championship Edition (wont run in wrong video mode)
Sonic Spinball (all versions will only run with the correct region/video settings)
Streets of rage (changes title to Bare Knuckle rather than street fighter if video mode is set to Japanese)

    Snes
Starwing (think this has screwed up graphics when run in the wrong videomode)

@AlmostOriginal That is a great list. Thank you. Now I know which games I must get as US/JP version.

About the Genesis/MegaDrive: I searched around and it seems these games wont work properly in some way as they are pal-optimized:

    Alien Soldier
    Alladin
    Earthworm Jim
    Earthworm Jim 2
    Ecco - Tides of Time
    Castlevania
    Cool Spot
    Mega Turrican
    Ranger X
    Rocket Knight Adventures
Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master
    Sonic 3
    Story of Thor (Beyond Oasis)
    Thunder Force IV (Lightening Force)
ToeJam & Earl 2: Panic on Funkotron
    Virtua Racing
    World of Illusion
    Zombies
