    Hi!

So I removed the RF module from my SNES and would like to isolate audio away from the AV port so that I can connect the video to my PVM and the sound to my amplifier with (hopefully) no audio noise!

Has anyone done this kind of modification before, or would have a good idea of how to perform it?

Any information would be appreciated. For what it is worth, my SNES motherboard is a SHVC-CPU-01.

Since you are planning on hooking it up to a receiver/amp, do you have a coax digital audio connection available on it? If so, that RF modulator part of the back panel is the perfect place to mount a single RCA connector for s/pdif output.

The only exception to note is that Super Gameboy feeds analog audio through the cart pins so you would either need to switch back to analog audio output from the SNES deck for that or mod the Super Gameboy cartridge for direct analog output (which some GB chiptune guys do anyway).

I use the mod linked by Jackhead since a very long time (what a surprise :p)
The sound is very good to my point of view! However, but keep in mind that the digital audio outputted there, is got from the S-DSP/S-APUs signals. This means that you won't get any audio which is mixed into the analog channels via the cartridge or extension port. In particular this means you won't hear any sound comming from the Super Gameboy or MSU1 (sd2snes).

I was actually hoping to simply tap the analog sound into dedicated RCA jacks, removing it from the AV port.

Digital is a nice solution, but not the right one for myself given that my amplifier doesn't support SP/DIF unfortunately.

Does it have TOSLINK? If so, you can do a TOSLINK mod instead of digital coax. As for mixing analog sound, you could get a cheap analog to digital audio converter, solder it to the cart slot, then mix it with the digital audio mod somehow.
