Bought this US SNES from China last december and finally opened it.

    Anyone seen one of these?

Could it be from a small batch of early SNES clones? Or even a prototype for one? Maybe the production of these didn't go ahead because of the cost.

I first thought it could even be an official prototype for a second gen SNES pcb, but everything seems to point it being a chinese clone. It does have though the expansion port implemented but don't know if it works.

Here are two pics for the case:

You didn't twig that getting a US machine from China was a little off?

It is a clone, it was made around 1996 so just before the one chip clones really took off. Even like this it would have been expensive but if they could sell them as "official" machines then the profit margins would have been good.

Jamtex, you've seen these? Got any links to pictures or discussions?

You seem to be so sure about the year of this clone, so do you have these in Portugal? And why would I have to be dissappointed in buying this? I haven't come accross anything like this on the net, so it could be a bit rare.
