So I have a number of Super Nintendo systems I've acquired to attempt repair for my own hobby. I'm awaiting some fuses for the other three I have, but this one seems to be in at least partially functioning order. Sound and picture are working except for these vertical lines that seem to change with the graphics onscreen. I suspected a bad pin connection, so I swapped out the connector with one of the other SNES machines I had laying around, still lines, so I tried another Snes Connector, STILL lines. Then I cleaned all of my connectors AND the connection base on the SNES with Weiman Glass Cook Top Cleaner and a toothbrush (which caused the toothbrush to turn pitch black with grossness), still lines. Then I did some messing around with the pins on the base and on the connector, still lines. Here is an example of what I mean.

Any advice on what else I could try?

wow, you guys reply fast! That link was quite helpful, but since I've already cleaned all my bridge connectors and the base, I'm kinda at a crossroad of how much more I can clean. Do I desolder the base and resolder to ensure the joints are intact? I even thought about hard wiring the base and the connector.

Just from the graphics on-screen, it looks like PPU1 is functioning, but PPU2 is malfunctioning, or vice-versa. Perhaps an internal chip failure, as mentioned above?

Most likely no chips are damaged, I'd reflow the CPU, PPU and VRAM pads.

I had this happen with bad cartridge port contacts.

You guys are amazing. I'm going to get to work on reflowing those points right away and hope that this works, but I just want to say that I've never had such a good experience in a forum as I have here! Such prompt and knowledgeable posters!

Don't use kitchen cleaner for cleaning contacts! It contains all sorts of crap. Use proper electronics contact cleaner.
