Just picked it up. Few things: -Is it just my shitty TV, or why is some of the Wii games not fully widescreen? Twilight Princess and Sonic and the Secret rings fills up the entire TV, while this is still in a mode like SPM where it only fills up part of it (I can't stretch images on my TV for some stupid reason). -It controls pretty much like I thought it would. Aiming is more accurate, but can be a pain in the ass sometimes (I died 4 times in the beginning because of the chainsaw guy due to my shotgun not going into aim mode for some reason). Reloading is a bit meh (Either shake the wiimote or press the right D-pad button), and the motion sensor on the knife is very hard to make it slash. -I still think the PS2 extras should of been unlocked from the beginning. Also, the Umbrella chronicles trainer was...eh (Ironically, I got suckered into preordering it. Oh well, I was going to preorder it closer to its launch anyway). Also, there is no easy mode in the beginning like the PC version. With all that said, I think this is the best version of the game. I'm enjoying it, and people who have never played it before will have a great time with it.
Believe it or not this is the first version of re4 I have owned. I'm having a blast with it. I also notice it does look the sharpest.
im enjoying it so far, still poo my pants every time i play it though! and the controls are quite responsive
It's something called overscan, wherein the developer purposely leaves a small black border around the image. This is to help people whose TVs cut off a small portion of the displayed image. However, for those with properly calibrated TVs, this can be a nuisance. At least you have "93% widescreen" as opposed to fullscreen. ;D Yeah, I'm getting overscanned too. :< This page shows an example (along with other technical mishaps): http://www.lyris-lite.net/dvd_hallofshame.html#laputa As for the actual game itself, yeah, I preordered it. Shooting can be a slight bitch a few times, but it sure is worth it. I prefer this version over the GCN one any day. (It helps that I have the option to use the GameCube controller anytime if I get pissed with the "wagglan," but I'm okay.) This truly is the definitive version. I'd like to go back in time and prevent myself from playing it on GameCube last year! XD What an experience that was though... It has lost the OHSHIWOAH surprise factor, but it's still enjoyable nonetheless.
not released here yet.. still 5 days to wait :O And Nintendo.. where is my Super Paper Mario!?!? just release it dammit! >=(
Austrailia says they are getting it September - I would assume the same is true for Europe but no official word yet. But honestly, since when does Australia get ANYTHING before another region?
I know this one, Ape Escape 3 (or was it 2..), hit PAL and Australia first iirc. Sword of Eternia also..maybe. Possibly a handful more as well...
This was totally NOT completely obvious at first, but... In order to play with the GCN controller, you must start the game off with the Wii remote ONLY. That is, detach the Nunchuk --- otherwise the game registers you as wanting to play with the full motion controls. (ALSO: The Classic Controller just requires connection on the remote and it will register as the main control.)
I got the Wii edition a few days ago and I've never gone through the game, so it's really my first time through, and it's quite enjoyable. I'm glad they have it widescreen since my television cuts of anything at the bottom.
Same here. I am still wondering if I should pick up the Wii version, however. Judging by what you guys are saying its a blast.
