So how can a handheld I never use just stop working?

I grabbed Retrogame Challenge and Shin Megami Tensei Strange journey last night (I'm a HUGE SMT fan) at Gamestop last night (YES I BUY GAMES)

Went to pop the game known in Japan as Game Center CX in my DS and...it doesn't turn on....I go to charge it...light on...then nothing.

Color me baffled. I hardly ever use my DS and yet here it is not working.

But that's your puzzle to figure out I'm sending it out for repair as soon as I can find a bubble wrap envelope to ship it out in.

My PSP Battery won't hold a charge either but that did get more use than my DS (but still hardly any use)

    What model DS is it?
    Could be a fuse.

Try leaving it to charge as i had a similar problem with my old first gen ds the battery went totally dead & wouldnt even turn on with the charger cable plugged in. I found out that it needs a fracton of a second battery power before it connects to the charging cable so if the battery is totally flat you have to wait. Just leave it charging for a few hours.

Ask AlecJahn about DS repairs! I'm subscribed to his youtube channel and he was getting them on a weekly basis!

(You probably shouldn't ask him this was only a joke)

Maybe ones you can't pirate easily, but I still call bullshit.

Does the power LED light at all when you plug it in and press the power switch?

How much power do R4 cards draw? I'm guessing the older cards weren't very efficient in power consumption. Would explain the quicker depleation of battery life.

maybe the battery is bad and the ds wont power if it doesnt detect the batt? I don't have any lil screw drivers here to try pulling the batt on mine and powering solely via power adapter

I don't know, but I've had the same thing happen to a SNES. It was working, and then I stopped using it for a long time, and then when I tried it again it didn't work (black screen). Go figure.

Nintendo systems are surprisingly durable, at least from my experience. My dog chew the fuck out of my gameboy and all ti did was muss the case up.

They're durable, but they can be broken. I spilled a bucket full of ice on my Gamecube once (the purple one I got on launchday), and that killed it. Granted, a bucket full of wet ice will destroy almost any electronic device. Luckily I had an extended warranty on it from Best Buy, so I got a new black one. I still have that one.

But I've had a ton of Nintendo consoles and handhelds, and the Gamecube and the SNES are the only ones that ever broke.

The PSP battery tends to deplete whether you use it or not unless you remove it from the system maybe. I noticed this myself. I need a new battery for my PSP sometime but damn they cost so much. And I don't want a cheap chinese knockoff battery that might be bad in some way.

Both my portables need more love I need to grab 3rd Birthday before it gets impossible to find. Gamestop doesn't seem to want to display ANYTHING for the PSP

I accidentally washed and dried my nintendo DSi inside of my courier bag, surprisingly still works.. so does the game that was in it that has a save battery :p I dont know if it's the DSi being well built, or if the magic powers of my Bag of Holding courier bag that saved it.
