So I got myself a Psy-Q Saturn...

...courtesy of QATTY (cheers mate). The setup consists of a grey Saturn (oddly, with a black cover on the cartridge slot - it should be blue, right?) with the Cross Products VCD/CD board, some sort of cable coming out of the front, and an early version of the dev-cart, which doesn't come with the metal casing. So I found a few .zip files with several docs and tools, as I intend to actually do something with it, maybe revisit Saturn coding and try to do more than changing the palette on the SEGA logo this time ;)

Anyway, the problem is that the docs mention the use of a specific ISA SCSI card from SN Systems, which I don't have. Is there a way to get this thing working with a "normal" DB25 SCSI card? Also, will a straight-thru DB25 cable work or do I need a SCSI-specific one?

It should be a straight through ("switchbox") cable, regarding the card, dunno sorry I'm almost positive they're all proprietary and setup specific.

for actual use for coding wouldn't Cross CartDev, especially Rev.B the easier to get hold of...?
and I think you can get the operational manual from internet...

just got myself a copy of Mirage CD-ROM so when she finds the Mirage unit she will send them to me - hopefully I can make some use out of it then...

Dammit, well then it might be worth the effort of setting PSYBIOS to I/O only mode (polling) and trying to log what data it sends to the card.
And yeah, maybe a Cartdev Rev. B would be nicer (and I wouldn't mind having a Mirage, too) but if it wasn't for a rather profitable trade I would never have been able to aquire this unit in the first place, let alone another one.

    Guess what I just found:

As a matter of fact I have an ISA SCSI card with NCR chipset if I haven't thrown it away already... I better turn the shed upside down now :D
