It's pretty cool. I have a picture gallery with a short video here: http://www.japan-games.com/SonicPachinko/index.html Enjoy!
Hehe nice one, i see its already had a volume mod installed. Your ears will thank you for that as they only have 3 settings on the factory volume switch. Loud, louder, & so loud your ears bleed. If your planning on keeping it, you might want to get a frame made so you can wall mount it. Like so.... Just remember to make sure you have a working key if you wall mount it as once it slams shut you aint getting back in again hehe (learned that one the hard way)
Iv'e never seen a pachinko or pachislot machine with nintendo characters on. Somehow i dont think they would lend their mascots to be used in gambling. Could be wrong though, but all searches i did in the japanese pachinko database sites came up with nothing.
we actually had a Mariokart gambling fruits machine in our Derby and Rathbone halls, here in liverpool, in the bar. I used to play it alot when I was in my first year and living there.
Mine has the wall mount on it. It looks like you could just secure the hooks in the unlocked position and simply close it. There is enough rubbing against the frame that it would stay shut, I think.
You can remove the 2 springs to stop the hooks from locking down when the frame is closed. Just in case you want to know how to get in the front of it under the glass (assuming you havent already), round the back on the edge of the door where the hooks are, theres a metal bar connected to the lock. If you push the bar down it raises the catches to make it open from the wooden frame but if you push it up it releases the front door so you can get to the playfield. With a working key you turn the key to the left to open the front & rurn it to the right to open the full machine. The lock is dead easy to replace if you wanted to, you can find them on yahoo auctions in the pachinko section, the lock is called an omron lock. Your machine looks uses the same boards as mine so if you have any problems just give us a shout, im sure ill be able to help you sort any errors.
:crying: Pictures and video makes me want that thing even more. Some day i will own one of thoes japanese pachinko machines.
Actually there is one error. There is a part that I beleive is supposed to regulate the flow of balls from the top, inside part of the machine. You add the balls to the white holder in back just below the power plug and it winds down near the side of the machine. As it goes through it's path it moves though what looks like a catch system. There is a small motor that turns an uneven plastic rod. It looks like it's supposed to hold up each ball for a second or so before allowing it to pass through. That motor makes a winding noise in pulses of about 1 second each. I took out the motor and the noise stopped when the motor was working alone. I added it back into the machine and it started to make that sound again. Apparently something isn't turning as it should....any ideas?
Actually, make that a white ball holder at top. Check out this pic: http://www.japan-games.com/SonicPachinko/slides/IMG_0742.html Follow the "a" in "Games" on the watermark up until you see a clear plastic casing. Inside there is the motor, one screw on each side. Maybe that's an easier wasy to describe it...heh. Thanks!
Thats the ball feed motor for the top hopper. When you say it makes a noise when plugged in, is it a really bad noise or just a motor noise, mine makes a weird cog grinding noise, but its normal on mine. Pachinko machines rarely run silent. Does it feed the balls through ok from the top hopper, if its just continuosly letting them through it means its still paying out. The top hopper is only used for balls that your going to win. You could try resetting the machine, Look for the black power switch down at the bottom, to the left of it should be a tiny button. Turn the power off, hold the button in then turn the power back on. Once the power is on hold it in for about 5 seconds then let go. It should reset the payout.
